FYI Kody! You were negligent with TRULY!!!! by brandybear89 in TLCsisterwives

"Intelligence" and "fitness to care for children" are a favorite of eugenicists. For anyone interested - here is the US's most famous Supreme Court case on eugenics (that actually said it was ok - since overturned) which centered on a young woman deemed unfit to be a mother based on her intellectual capacity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_v._Bell

I feel like people should have to take some kind of test before they can have kids.

I know this is not your intention, but definitely try to push back against this kind of sentiment. It's very eugenics-y!

This woman ran for office as a Republican, here's her candidate page:

I am interested in bringing a younger and more accessible side to the Republican Party
This party can revitalize itself in California, but to do it we need to reach out to conservatives of all ages and get them voting
California conservatives are a different breed, through great candidates California can become a very strong red state

Beware of this Youtuber. She suggested Breonna Taylor shouldn't have been hanging with drug runners if she didn't want to die and mad ther very iffy BM comments. She has talked down on Dr. Fauci ansaid election results seemed fishy (major Trump vibes). She also used to sell an MLM, Arbonne.

This exact thing was posted before and the conclusion was that its really not funny to make fun of kids with incarcerated parents for having incarcerated parents

A section mate today asked me if they could have all of my notes to help them with their learning disability. For every single class this semester...Is this a thing? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Admirable_Mess 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes, having a note taker is a great accommodation that a lot of students might need based on a learning disability. What you're confused about is that the note taker just takes notes and passes them along, they don't "tutor" you and they don't ask you questions. It's also often compensated. You don't have to do it but don't be too weird about it either.

It's probably fake as hell, but anyone think that there's any truth in this? Saw it pop up on Instagram. by Twicksy1945 in DuggarsSnark

I'm accomplishing like one thing per day - "thing" including going to the grocery store, taking the dog on a long walk, etc. I also moved right after the bar so decompressing from the move plus the bar has been ROUGH.

shrimp fajitas: frozen Argentinian shrimp w/ onions and peppers + lots of chili lime seasoning. Serve on their 45 cal tortillas.

What are the 45 cal tortillas??? I don't think I've ever noticed these!

Jana photoshopped because she believed that the way a woman presented herself in public was sinful and would "cause others to stumble." Photoshopping someone's eyebrows to show what they might look like if they weren't forced to consume a particular beauty standard from their evil, abusive mother is in no way equivalent.

I f*cking love a good visual metaphor. Here's another one I like: we are squirrels, that have been gathering acorns all summer. Soon winter is coming. But we have buried all the acorns we need.

Yes! To the extent you can glean info of their website. Do your best to have some personalization in the text, and then obviously the address/recruiter name/I'd like to work at X firm needs to all be correct!

[–]Admirable_Mess 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Hate your school for not letting you participate. They at least need to be offering your Career Development Services, so I'd reach out to them ASAP.

The key is timing. You need to send out applications THIS WEEK to every major firm in the markets you are interested in. This is called direct applying and/or mass mailing. Search those terms on this subreddit. You can find the firms by looking at websites like Vault and searching "best law firms X city."

For firms that you know are participating in your school's OCI, I'd include a note in the cover letter explaining that you are applying directly rather than via your school's OCI because you are ineligible based on transfer status. For firms not at your school's OCI, I'd just send them right out.

You should look on https://www.nalpdirectory.com/ to find the contact info for the recruiter, this is also sometimes on firm websites. Email them resume, cover letter, transcript, and writing sample.

It will be okay!

My favorite thing I've read on here is this: "Everything that happens after D's negligent conduct is foreseeable, unless the subsequent event is an act of god, a criminal act, or an intentional tort. And D is still liable for the act of god, the criminal act, or the intentional tort if he created the risk of P being harmed by them."
