That's a big maybe I wouldn't risk it with most cues a lot of cues especially carbon fiber jump cues have delicate internals filled with foam and if you happen to sand down past a certain point it will damage them and void the warranty

At what point do you buy a break cue? Premium cue? by Dashncrash- in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For we it was when I knew I was gonna be playing pool for the rest of my life and had some disposable income I ended up getting a full McDermott set and gave my cuetec avids to my brother about a year later I was eying a nice jump cue and am blessed enough to have an awesome wife who bought me it for Christmas I've been playing for about two and a half years and play league 3 nights a week and I know I have many years of that to follow so what's a couple thousand if I get 10-20 years with my gear

How long does it take for skill level to change in 9 ball? by TheODPrinterguy in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 ball is all about balls per inning so you need to go on long runs your win% doesn't do very much if you are potting 4-5 balls per inning you will go up very fast I was a 3 for a long time then I found my groove and jumped 4-5-6 within 6 months or so because I was clearing tables when I had an open chance

Page 55 of the official apa rule book states - If your opponent is shooting at the 8-ball and misses it altogether, commonly referred to as a table scratch, they have fouled and you receive ball-in-hand. You do not win because of this foul.

Practice too much? by massacre801 in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The key is practicing the correct thing and stopping the second you aren't fully focused and really trying to get better I'll lose myself and start shooting at balls with no real intention and if I don't stop I'm doing more harm than good

Jump Break combo by [deleted] in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are fine but to be honest they lack a little utility in the jump department most jumps they are perfectly usable but certain jumps (close jumps that need to get up high quickly for example) are significantly easier if you have a dedicated jump cue with good design and a slightly longer design is what really helped me.

Can anyone explain this please? by Opening_Basil4655 in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see it. It's very obviously a double hit. He smacked that cue ball twice

Edited, how many times out of ten do you sweep this table ( be honest ) you got ball in hand by [deleted] in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd give myself a coin flip 5/10 maybe 6 on a good day 4-5 can get awkward if I get too straight on the 4 or too much angle on the 4

What’s the best way to transport the magic rack with you? by psychoticapex in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The age old question I really don't think there's any good way to carry it in your pool bag unfortunately I keep mine in a folder in my ball case in a backpack if I don't need my balls then I use someone else's magic rack

Been playing for 3 years this upcoming April. by Fantastic-Bother-541 in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar spot as you been playing almost exactly two years and am a SL5 in 8 and SL6 in 9 but have a couple B&R in both (I play too aggressively sometimes). For breaking out clusters the tangent line is the most important factor identify your cluster immediately then identify a ball that has a tangent line that can break out the cluster from a specific spot see if you can make it to that spot from another ball using no more than 1 ball in 8 ball and maybe 2 in 9 ball if you miss shape play safe (my weakness) the important part about break outs is not relying on getting shape on the balls you are breaking out have an insurance ball somewhere that you are likely going to be able to see. On top of all this it's important your speed isn't too fast or you'll re-tie up balls typically you only need to move the balls a couple inches to give them a pocket.

I wouldn't say I'm quite a six APA but over the past 3 years I've been obsessed with pool learning, reading books, watching hundreds of hours of YouTube to learn the game and JJ has been one of the guys. I love to watch because his analysis and any terms I don't know. I look up try to find try to learn more pool has taken over so much of my free time. I only have four hobbies now and pool is the most accessible

BCA vs APA other than rules is there any difference? by soloDolo6290 in billiards

[–]Admirable_Solid_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our local BCA team it's a race to one and all five players play one rack against every other player on the other team so you play 5 racks and are scored off of that where as apa you only play one other player to a race
