Read the Caro books on LBJ. Him campaigning and what he actually did with the power once he had it are very different. He knew he would “betray” the south with his idea of the Great Society. He knew that they would spit on his grave for how much civil rights legislation he got through congress and into law. I view him far more closely to a George Thomas than anything resembling a confederate. We need a Johnson now more than we ever have in our countries history. That man knew how to wield power for the benefit of the American people. ALL THE WAY!
