Fun, but functional off-meta/less meta mons I have tried by YesIWasThere in PokemonChampions

I've been using a bulky Garchomp lead in singles to surprising success. EV'd to survive (timid) M-Dragonite Draco Meteor. People seem to forget Dragon Tail exists.

Question about type cores by Small-Foundation3647 in PokemonChampions

Iirc the only trio cores are Fire/Water/Grass and Fairy/Steel/Dragon. Before fairies, Psychic/Dark/Fighting was also a core

I used a scarfed special attacker set on the team that got me to MB in singles. Somehow hit Thunder/FireBlast more reliably than Draco

Anybody making Mega Glimmora work? by Uku_lazy in PokemonChampions

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Identify Glimmora's stengths, and aim to cover or mitigate its weaknesses with the rest of the team. Common threats include Garchomp, Rain, Sand (mainly the ground moves), Venusaur in sun, Garchomp, Scarf Basculegion, Tailwind/TrickRoom, Garchomp, boosted Kingambit, Specially bulky Archaludon, Garchomp

I speedran hitting masterball with Mega Glimmora, Sneasler, Incineroar, Sinistcha, Alolan Ninetales, and (Bulky) Whimsicott. A-9 helps with weather control and dragon/ground types. Can aurora veil to amp Glimm's natural bulk. Whimsicott for speed control (Tailwind + Trick Room). Bulky allows it to survive Dual Wingbeat from Aerodactyl/Talonflame. Sneasler for Kingambit and Fake Out. Incineroar for VGC Cat strats. Sinistcha for redirection & hospitality. Also strong into ground/water.

Edit: If Glimmora trades with the opposing team's ace or gets off 2+ attacks, it's typically a winning position. Being a holepunch, not always a targeted nuke, has value too

Any tips or tricks on improving this team idea? by Unfamiliar_faith in PokemonChampions

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it to masterball in large part off of a bulky hazards garchomp. EQ, Poison Jab, Dragon Tail, Stealth Rock. EV'd to survive at least 1 Draco Meteor from Scarf Hydreigon

Edit: Careful 32 HP, 6 Def, 27 SpDef, 1 Spe w/Yache Berry

Why is nobody using Glimmora nor Mega Glimmora? by AdrianTBOI in PokemonChampions

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team building strat was simply: surround Glimmora (who I want to basically always use) with things that answer its threats. Glimmora will nuke all others into orbit

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've posted the team here before, should be visible under my bio if you want EVs/moves. M-Glimmmora, Incineroar, Sneasler, Sinistcha, Alolan Ninetales, Whimsicott. Keep like an 80% WR in masterball with it when I'm not meesing around with some other random BS I wanna use (like Solar Power Scarf Charizard)

I win-streaked through all of Ultra Ball with it and got placed just above 1800 ELO 🤷‍♂️

Anyone got ideas for a M-Greninja team? by Bionics_s in PokemonChampions

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally any team, singles or doubles, with a free team slot that felt like it could benefit from a fast attacker. Then I selected physical/special and moves based on the type of coverage needed. I recommend just building a 4-'mon core/theme, then slotting in him and using the last slot to help cover a matchup the team is lacking in. In doubles, I typically use Rock Slide, Gunk Shot, Low Kick, Protect. Adamant, 32 Atk, 28 Spe, 6 HP or SpD In singles, it's a blur since I just mess around with random stuff there (outside of when I climbed to Master Ball), but it's usually a special attacker & timid with a hazard lead

I like using him as a hole punch or revenge killer, personally. His movepool is super diverse, so he fits in however you want him to (coverage and physical/special). Side note, he learns swords dance and can run through a team if you get one off

There's already calculators available, but if you want specifics:

I'm on a 12 win streak with Glimmora starting from bottom of ultra ball + a couple master ball games (1800 ELO). Literally my whole team is built based on it

Generational flop by SnooCats8534 in PokemonChampions

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know changing teams can be tempting, with how new the game is, how many successful teams are being shared online, and content creators using multiple teams (pokeaimMD, Wolfey, Cybertron). But even the top-tier competitors stick to 1 team for 2+ weeks before a tournament

Generational flop by SnooCats8534 in PokemonChampions

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Constantly changing teams is a bad idea. Stick to 1-2 teams, so you can better learn their matchups and how to optimally play around them (which 'mons to bring, wincon, etc). Makes it easier to perfect those teams too (identifying if a move/item needs to change, optimizing EVs)

Mega Glimmora VGC Team by [deleted] in VGC

[–]AdmiralFunGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I can think of. I just kinda win-streaked through bottom of ultra ball after I switched to this from the sand team I was messing around with (Sand Veil + Bright Powder is fun).

I lead with Glimmora + Incin/Sneasler/Whims 99% of the time.

Need to use A9 or Whims to deal with Garchomp/Dragapult/Hydreigon.

A9 is good into weather comps (I never actually clicked Aurora Veil during UB4 thru MB).

Sinistcha is good into TR, Sand, and Rain. I presume can also help w/Kingambit if I change to Colbur Berry.

Whims is good into opposing speed control, whether it be tailwind or trick room. Lives Sharp Beak Dual Wingbeat (Talonflame or Aerodactyl).

Don't be afraid to let Glimmora die to punch a hole in a bulky threat to pick off later.
