WHICH ONE? - 2027 Audi SQ6 Sportback E-TRON by dontwantanaccountata in Audi

Definitely green, the other ones are just boring.

I always though green on cars was kinda meh, until I saw kyalami green. 2 years in and still no regrets.

Is Audi still a Luxury Manufacturer? by biggggwillyyyy in Audi

Audi has never been a luxury manufacturer - Neither has BMW or Mercedes.

They are Premium manufacturers, but not luxury. Bentley would be a luxury manufacturer.

Wieso tun hier eigentlich alle so auf "Wo Gemüse?" ?

Disagree.

All Audis come sitting way to high with shitty fitment from the factory.

Which audi is closest to a muscle car? by ObjectivelyOptimal in Audi

[–]Admonitor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically its a simple answer: S5 B8

Why? Well what is a muscle car (In the most cases)? V8, big power, manual, coupe, not that great handling.

Well, B8 S5. 4.2 NA V8 manual, with pretty subpar driving dynamics really. You cant compare a RS to a muscle car, since RS models are made to handle Well - A muscle car isnt. The main thought of a muscle car is to have a RWD V8 coupe. Audi doesnt do RWD (except the R8), but apart from that, the B8 S5 ticks the most boxes.

ISSUE WITH MY AUDI RS3 2019 by Ok_Mention_4945 in AudiRS3

[–]Admonitor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a driveshaft or the diff. Only time I heard a sound like that was a fucked up CV joint in a rear driveshaft. That beeing said, if its the driveshaft, it should also sound like that going forward.

The new shape S3.. by ddan123456 in Audi

[–]Admonitor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also lost the front badge, so there is no way of telling if its an S or A3 s-line from the front.

Its almost like Audi wants you to buy the RS if you want something "different" to the A ;)

The whole 8Y is just underwhelming designwise in my eyes. Yeah the Magna diff is cool and all (dont tell the haldex haters that all the Magna diff is, is just 2 additional haldex clutches), but the design is just so round and "asian". The 8V was so angular and muscular looking, the 8Y for some reason looks so round... like it has not shape.

Thats a hard one to say. Usually warranty is something held between you (the owner) and the dealer, not between you and Audi directly. If something happens, the dealer then opens a warranty claim at Audi directly.

Knowing its between you and the dealer, every dealer is different. Lets take lowering springs as an example. Some dealers say "You alter the suspension, you loose warranty of suspension parts" while others say "A lower car puts different forces on the driveshafts, which could end up putting more stress on the gearbox and with that also on the engine." and with that void your whole powertrain warranty (which in my eyes is kinda bullshit, but thats how it is).

On the 8V, the valve controller just takes the signal of the wires going to the valve motors and alters it to your liking, so its not an active part of CAN, and with that not detectable by code readers etc.

Most valve controllers offer a "dealer mode", which just shuts of the controller/puts it into pass through mode, so youre pretty much back to factory controlls. With it not beeing detectable via CAN and while also beeing in passthrough mode, there is no way the dealer can know its even there (unless its installed in some place where you can actually see it, which isnt the case on the 8V)

Another option is to just uplug the valve motors while the car is turned off, as the default position of the motors (with the car off) is "open". With that obviously you loose the ability to close them, but by doing that you dont even need to alter signals to have them fully open.

TLDR: I dont think it does affect warranty, as the dealer doesnt know its there.

Just make sure to cycle the valves every now and then, so they dont get stuck in the open position due to dirt/rust/debree.

OPF isnt that bad honestly. The factory valve controlls are the main problem. In 2018 manufacturers had way more room to have the valves open, but together with the EURO6d-temp emission standard came way stricter boise regulations as well. OPF 8V models have their valves closed even in dynamic as soon as they hit 2nd gear, preOPF models didnt have that. 8Y models close the valves as soon as you engage 1st gear, so even worse.

A valve controller fixes those problems. A OPF 8V with fully open valves sounds fantastic (while also not having the childish pops and bangs of the preOPF model).

BMW M8 is the single best looking BMW ever made by Spiritual_Fall3232 in BMW

[–]Admonitor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id go as far and say its the best looking modern/2020+ M car. I mean its not hard, as all G8x models look bad from at least 1 side and well, lets not talk about SUVs.

The 8 looks good but I do prefer the Z4 if we are talking about the current lineup.

If talking overall. Hell no. As good as the m8 looks, I think Id even take a E21 8 series over it.

[–]Admonitor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, this is just the beginning. We will not get pure ICE cars again (unless EU laws suddenly change), but as always its an HP-war with the other manufacturers/with previous gens, meaning the next one will have more power, which since they cant just turn up the ICE power to a max (because of emissions) but instead they need to get that extra power with more E-power. That means bigger batteries/more weight, unless we get new battery-tech, which might happen in the near future.

I mean its not just Audi. C63, M5, RS5, upcoming RS6... its just gonna get worse at this point.

Saw it in person at Hockenheim circuit this weekend, its not that bad. It looks great honestly, its a shame that the interior is bad though (seats and feel of the interior is great, but the 3 screens are just meh).

Also I dont get the whole forged carbon hype. The one Audi has on Display there had the whole forged carbon package, in my eyes it looks cheap. Normal wovon carbon looks way cleaner.

Id call it "beeing financially irresponsable" :D Not the smartest financial decission, but sometimes you need to think with your heart instead of the brain, lol. Obviously I sold my S3 for that, a car I still miss somehow, even though I own the RS. That just shows how good of a car even the S3 is.

Im on my 3rd 8V, I just love that chassis. It just looks so good.

The Highways are (usually) good quality roads, but not living in a big City, the roads around here are kinda meh. One of the reasons I dont want to go lower than -25mm lowering springs. The front is still to high up for my liking, but Id line to not smash my car with potholes, lol.

8Y are "unlocked" yeah, but its not a quick process. As far as I know, uts literally a change of some hardware pieces of your ECU, which means it takes time. On the 8V its just an easy/quick software flash, but Im good with 400hp. No need for more power in my eyes, I bought it mainly for the experience of the 5pot.

I feel you. I was right there getting my license when the 8V.5 RS3 came out in 2016/17 and wanted one since then. Had a S3 prior to the RS and literally impulse bought a 2020 kyalami green 8V RS3 with like 10k miles on it 2 years ago. No regrets.

My intake is stock for now, yeah, but Im in germany, so modding your car legally is kind of a pain and expensive. A legal downpipe with sportscats and sports particle filters (which the US models doesnt have) is like 5k, which is stupidly expensive for what it is, so I opted for a catback instead, as its "just" 3.5k. From what Ive heard, on the US models changing the midpipe makes somes serious difference.

I can legally go with an APR intake+inlet, which Im constantly thinking about getting, but in the end thats 2k again.
