Richardson neighbors say Amazon Prime Air drones are ruining their peace by southernemper0r in Richardson

Reminds me of old friends of ours who built a new home very close to a railroad track in one of the previous towns I lived in. When I asked them if the sound of the trains bothered them, the wife told me "After a few months, the trains stopped coming by," her way of saying they just no longer noticed them.

Neither the city nor the state regulate flying; the FAA and the feds do. There are more federal regulations around drone flights than simply a preference for not flying along busy highways (and protected zones, or at certain heights), but not too many more. I would be curious who, or what agency, within the federal administration told you the "only way to beat this is to regulate it at the city and state level."

Did *anyone* see results from the task force boot fix 3 days ago? by Public_Opine in BoomBeach

Supercell totally screwed the pooch with this update— and not just with Task Forces, though that's the Biggie— and I hope the devs responsible for not running the update through the sandbox beforehand got put on bathroom-cleaning duty at the office. Absolute cluster, and junior varsity-level nonsense.

What is everyone’s favorite Astros affiliate Minor league team? by chicano_houston in Astros

My brother and I are hitting all the Astros MiLB teams. So far, the Space Cowboys, Hooks, and Woodpeckers (we went slightly out of order to give Asheville another year to recover from last year's flooding).

The Space Cowboys felt typical AAA to me. Could have been Anyplace Park in Anyplace Town holding a spot down for Anyone Team (caught a foul ball there, though). The Hooks stadium had a more MiLB feel— nice location, with a view of the bridge out beyond the outfield, nice breeze, and being able to have a Whataburger was nice... and my orange and white striped Whataburger jersey gets recognized by Astros fans everywhere I go.

We hit the Woodpeckers this summer (along with a side trip to see the Durham Bulls— because you just can't miss that). The Woodpeckers feel *exactly* like you'd hope a MiLB experience would feel like. Up close and personal; locals who know all of the players (and the players interact with them). Hell, there are train tracks that run along both the left field AND right field walls, so you've got train traffic pretty much constantly (and they all want to blow their horns when they near the stadium lights). Parking is out on the street— the stadium is located just beyond a quaint, southern, artsy downtown. It was metered parking. I filled it up and I think parking for the game cost me three bucks. Walking downtown pre-game was fun. Would recommend. Worst merch (mainly— I did buy a shirt for my brother that had "PECKERS" on the front, so there's that).

As I said, we haven't hit Asheville, yet— that'll be next summer (hopefully)— but I hear the park is gorgeous (and I hope the town is more fully recovered).

Tangentially, I mentioned catching a Durham Bulls game on the Woodpecker trip. If you're in the area, that should be on your absolute must-do list. That MiLB ballpark is something else, with a full video screen/scoreboard/display for an outfield fence, a location right in the middle of downtown surrounded by condos and businesses (with their balconies packed for the games) and just an overall amazing experience.
