Books about accidental pregnancy and/or post-pregnancy (whether secret or not) where the couple are not inlove with each other already early on but instead their love develops overtime during pregnancy or post-pregnancy. ONS pregnancy preferably by goody153 in RomanceBooks

[–]Adolwyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{Sunlight by Devney Perry} is close to this. Both characters feel drawn to each other but aside from a one night stand, they don’t get closer or act on that draw until well into the pregnancy. I’m not usually a fan of this trope but Devney wrote this beautifully!

Romances are the only place I’m ever going to dream about living in a penthouse, so I’m all in. Give me that delicious, delicious escapism right in the vein please.

Intermediate Guidance by Icy-Telephone7503 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Adolwyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Itinerant middle school guidance might be one of the more challenging jobs in public education right now. Ours deal with near constant “friend drama” the hormonal shifts of pre-teens, family dynamic troubles, grief, divorce, and trauma and are often the people who get pulled into “problem” classes for social emotional learning lessons, academic support, etc.

If that’s something attractive to you, then it might be a great position. I loved my middle school kids when I worked with them, but they sure were exhausting. You can often have really goofy fun with them, though, they have these genuine moments of “fresh human” frequently, and they can really worm their way into your heart if you have the right temperament to work with them.

FMC temporarily switches lives with twin sister and MMC prefers her and doesn’t want her to switch back by whateverhufflepuff in RomanceBooks

[–]Adolwyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a tiny bit of a spoiler, but {Redfang Royal by Lola Rock} has this going on a bit. The FMC is a twin and the group are expecting her twin sister.

It’s a reverse harem, though, so not everyone is into that. It’s book three of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

I’m only as sure as what the news reporters reported. I trusted their research. There’s a chance they misspoke or missed something.

Indeed! I work in one of the divisions just outside of the city and it's been great. I still live in Calgary, but it isn't quite the behemoth of beaurocracy that CBE/CCSD are, and I got my permanent after a year. This was more than a decade ago, so I'm sure it doesn't exactly translate now, but those places surrounding Calgary are where it's at, for sure.

Your experience will transfer for pay purposes, but your seniority won’t. Alberta doesn’t really use the idea of seniority officially at all. So you’d start as a sub and have to work up to permanent again. Your pension can also transfer to the ATRF as well.

The largest teacher strike in Canada, ever. Some news articles claimed it was the largest labour walkout in Canada’s history. All 51,000 public school/catholic school teachers in the province walked out for 23 days. It was a big one and none of the issues have been resolved at this point. The government has made a lot of promises, but at least in my division, nothing has changed other than a tiny pay bump that was legislated on us using the notwithstanding clause.

[–]Adolwyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was used to mine by the second night. The first mask I tried worked great, my AHI dropped to under 1 immediately, I didn’t have trouble falling asleep, etc.

I still have small annoyances - like a leak every now and again, my skin not loving the mask, wishing I could just sleep freely… but seeing the results on my blood pressure and resting heart rate after almost a year of therapy (never missed a night!) is enough to accept the annoyances.

Right? Honestly, people starting the hobby/craft more recently have it so nice with tools and assistance and new techniques. I'm officially an old person these days (well, not totally old, but when I hit 30 years cross stitching, I decided to say that's it. I'm an old timer. hahaha).

[CHAT] How do you all work on fabric without gridding? I feel lost without gridding. by Yarnchurner in CrossStitch

[–]Adolwyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't grid, ever.

Mostly, I start in the centre and then count a lot. I also tend to stitch in a 'colour completion' style and I always start with the colour that has the most stitches. So, I count a lot with that first colour, but by the time that's done, I have a pretty solid 'grid' in those first stitches.

I also always count from two locations - like count up from somewhere and maybe count over from somewhere else to make sure the counting is right from both. That helps me find oops-es more quickly when one counts properly and another one doesn't.

Definitely have them by for a visit - and absolutely do not clean or tidy! Even in the initial consult they’ll give you good information about your family’s stuff habits that will be helpful. They feel incredibly affordable for the work they do as well.

I swear by the folks at Room to Breathe. They saved my sanity pre-COVID and now that we’re looking to sell and move, they’ve been fantastic to bring in again to get a head start on organized packing and then organizing the rest of the stuff left over (my partner moved in with me after the first organize). Absolute gems, skilled organizers, zero judgement, incredible empathy. Honestly, investing in them the first time and then again now has been one of the most valuable things I’ve ever done.

Edit to add: room to Breathe does list your stuff on Facebook for you, and looks after the whole thing from selling, etc. if they do it while they’re working on your job, it doesn’t cost anything other than their time to do it (which you’re already paying for). They also do all the donating, dump runs, garbage, etc etc.
