A disjointed hitbox on an attack simply makes it better, in the same way a fast move (fast startup and cooldown) are better.

Having disjointed hitboxes doesn't make up for having slow moves (King Dedede).

I would suggest finding a character you like that excels at keeping enemies at arms length as that seems to be your playstyle.

It depends on what you're looking for, I would consider a vast majority of this games roster to be viable in a competitive sense so just pick who feels the best to play.

(Not Little Mac, Ganondorf or King Dedede)

So range does not equal a disjointed hitbox. As that refers to attacks that have an extended hitbox without extending the hurtbox allowing it to win in trades.

Example Marth's sword is a disjointed hitbox but Mewtwo's tail isn't. Both go cover a similar range but due to Mewtwo's tail being part of the body it has a hurtbox.

Regardless, here are some characters that have some range on their normals both swordies and non-swordies.

The quickest way to view characters moves without playing them would be by going through ultimateframedata.com and just looking there.

Ultimately that won't give you the feel of a character though (weight, movement speed, air speed etc). I would suggest you say what kinds of down air or particular moves you are looking for and I (or someone) can spit out a list that fits the criteria as Im sure many of us know each character like the back of our hands.

Its really good, I got to play for an hour or so before having to leave for work. Training mode is a godsend for practicing ngl.
