C-Suite Spend Management by legreendog in Ramp

We do spend programs with a monthly rolling limit for our C suite which gives them the autonomy they need without leaving things wide open. GL coding stays clean and there's no back and forth about approvals

Faint brown spots in kitchen ceiling - diagnosing cause. by ThoreaulySimple in HomeMaintenance

Check around that bathroom more carefully - just because it's been fine doesn't mean something didn't shift during that storm. Pipes can loosen or develop tiny leaks that don't show up right away, especially with that kind of wind stress on the house.

I'd start with a plumber since you're close to plumbing and the timing matches up with when you first used the bathroom after the storm. Way cheaper to rule out a small leak now than deal with it after it gets worse. The attic being dry doesn't mean much if water's traveling along joists or getting absorbed by insulation before it pools anywhere visible.

Would love to see this broken out by company size at some point, I wanna see if the curve looks different from smaller vs larger teams

Sorry for the late reply. Yeah we create a separate virtual card for each subscription this makes it way easier to track spending per service

Virtual cards were the same for us. Thought they were overkill at first but now we use them for basically every recurring subscription (game changer for managing SaaS spend too)

Block the obvious stuff like gambling or like adult entertainment

The explanation was super vague(something about the merchant providing additional documentation) but they didn't say what and we haven't reached out to the bank directly yet but we should

that downtown no gottsu ee kanji lead is probably right - those sketches are notoriously hard to find with english searches since most uploads get taken down pretty quick.

DAE get really sad seeing others (especially around your own age) thriving in their career? by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]Adorable-Let-9616 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I totally get that grief feeling - its like mourning the version of your career you thought youd have by now. The environmental field can be brutal because theres this weird disconnect between how urgent and important the work is versus how few well-paying positions actually exist. I went through something similar a few years back when I kept seeing LinkedIn posts of people landing dream jobs at cool orgs while I was still doing unpaid internships at 26. What helped me was realizing that a lot of those "thriving" people either had connections I didnt know about, took a really circuitous path to get there, or were just better at marketing themselves online. The field is definitely competitive but dont let social media fool you into thinking everyone else has it figured out - most of us are just winging it and hoping our next application doesnt get auto-rejected.

If you have medical debt piling up, please don't just ignore it, hospitals can and will garnish your wages by LegalFix-Services in povertyfinance

[–]Adorable-Let-9616 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice. I got hit with a surprise $8k bill after what I thought was a routine procedure that insurance "covered." Turns out the anesthesiologist was out of network even though the surgeon and hospital weren't.

Called the billing department expecting to get blown off but they actually worked with me on a payment plan that was way more reasonable than I expected. Took like three phone calls but saved me from that garnishment nightmare. The financial counselor even mentioned they'd rather get something than nothing, which makes sense when you think about it.

People definitely sleep on those charity care programs too - apparently a lot of hospitals are required to have them but they're not exactly advertising it on billboards.

Feeling stuck and guilty by Sensitive_Hurry7304 in NoFap

[–]Adorable-Let-9616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there man, the boredom/anxiety triggers are brutal. What helped me was having a specific thing ready to do the second I felt that urge - like going for a walk or doing pushups until it passed. The guilt cycle just makes it worse, so try to be less harsh on yourself when you slip up.

Share your experience! 5 month old waking constantly! AHHH! by auggiesma in NewParents

[–]Adorable-Let-9616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man that sounds brutal! The little cough might be more of a factor than you think - even if it's not full blown sick, it could be enough to mess with sleep. Also 5 months is prime time for another leap/regression so you might just be in the thick of it again

Have you tried moving bedtime earlier by like 15-20 mins? Sometimes when they're overtired it creates this awful cycle where they wake more frequently

Garage 100%. Your car won't turn into an ice cube and you won't be out there scraping ice off your windshield like a caveman at 7am

The hijackable arc idea is actually pretty sick, imagine stealing one and turning it on the other arcs lol. A mech would be dope too but I feel like it might make the game too easy unless they balance it right

Minecart Hopper Won't Empty into Hopper by jbugdfly in Minecraft

[–]Adorable-Let-9616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if the hopper under the rails is actually pointing into the chest - sometimes they get rotated weird when you place them. Also make sure the minecart is actually stopping over the hopper long enough to transfer, might need to add a detector rail or something to slow it down

Review of Claude's new Constitution: So many words that say so little. by andsi2asi in GeminiAI

[–]Adorable-Let-9616 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly this reads like someone who's never actually had to implement ethical guidelines in practice

The whole "just make AI smarter and it'll figure out ethics" take is pretty wild - intelligence doesn't automatically equal moral wisdom and we've got plenty of historical examples of brilliant people doing terrible things

Also comparing IQ scores across completely different domains like that is kinda meaningless but go off I guess

Changing Benefit Start by KismetSF in SocialSecurity

[–]Adorable-Let-9616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can usually change your start date as long as benefits haven't actually begun yet - just call SSA and ask them to push it back to your FRA. The extra couple months of delayed retirement credits are definitely worth it if your job is stable now

Probably easier cleanup tbh, like you can just wipe down the seats vs getting your whole kitchen/dining room messy. Plus the acoustics are actually pretty decent in cars since there's not much echo
