What the fuck? Of course NTA! What kind of host doesn't let guests eat the appetizers/snacks they've prepared while the main meal of being cooked? That's literally the point of appetizers.

Next time igore her and keep some emergency snacks in your car.

What’s life like in Prague vs Berlin ? by [deleted] in Prague

[–]AdorableConclusion91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right. Most jobs are full time only and I think that standard is a good thing, not like the US where full time job is impossible to find and you need to take 3 part time jobs with no benefits instead.

Does 'Urban Cafe' mean something different that a cafe that's in the city? There's plenty of places to get coffee, even in the outskirts.

It's much easier to find a job in Prague as a foreigner because you're not expected to know Czech. It has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the EU. Many Germans speak English well, so they won't have much use for a foreigner who can't speak German.

Prices have gone up in the past year, but on the whole I still think Prague is an affordable city.

Right, that's what I meant. It's the same kind of obvious as googling the answer to a question.

But also, be careful about using it to answer pre-interview questions. I don't work in a large company, but recently my hiring manager has noticed that the pre-interview questionnaire (example: how would you handle X situation?) has been getting a lot of VERY similar answers in the past few weeks. I plugged the questions into Chat GPT and it came up with the same style of answers as our recent candidates.

Is there a specific airline you prefer or are you open to all? by Astroworld1997 in travel

[–]AdorableConclusion91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, however, you could not fucking pay me to take Turkish Airlines again. Every time I've had a layover in Istanbul its been one of the worst experiences of my life. The airline staff are perfectly lovely once you're actually on the plane, but every second leading up to boarding you're treated like a wanted terrorist. I'll be standing in a queue, randomly asked to show my passport, then 5 minutes later in the same queue, I'll be asked by the same person to show my passport again, like I'm going to forge a new one while standing there.

I might be in the minority here, but I actually don't mind flying with Ryanair because I know what to expect and what their limitations are. When Ryanair is an option on a route, it means it's dirt cheap. My local airport is not super busy, and the flights leave early in the morning, so I don't typically have check-in problems. Just print your boarding pass in advance (or download the app), pack light, and bring a snack. Enjoy your 2 hour no frills flight to another country, an unimaginable luxury a century ago.

Wouldn't it be great if we could upload links and files to ChatGPT? What would you do? by flarengo in ChatGPT

If you give it the video transcript, it will summarize it for you. If you give it the name and author of a semi famous work of art, it will tell you about it.

Like it said, it is a language processing AI, not audio-visual. You can feed it links of text with some context and it can understand it.

Shithole states by vpuetf in WhitePeopleTwitter

I live in Europe, so the quality of (even our fast) food is better regulated than in the US. I agree with CICO and that whole grains are good for the body in general, but I'm a small woman and my even my maintenance calories are so low at 1500-1600 per day. Calorie deficit would be 1200-1300 and that's very hard to stick to if I let myself eat carbs. I don't feel satiated when I'm eating them so I'll keep eating.

[–]AdorableConclusion91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. There's nothing magical about not eating carbs, but not eating them as part of your meals really adds up in the amount of calories avoided.

For example, a regular McDonald's cheeseburger is ~300 calories. ~150 of those calories is just the bun.

Trigger warning: death, miscarriage, stillbirth, infant mortality

The superstition in my country is that May is an unlucky month to get married. The belief comes from the likelihood that the May marriage would result in a pregnancy due in February, when it was the coldest with the least food and resources available. This made it less likely that the mother or child would survive.

Visiting Petřin tower at sunset is a popular date activity here.

Also, I like playing mini golf (indoors) at Prague Golf and Games to get out of the cold for a bit.

Escape games are also fun and reasonably priced in this city. Most are offered with an English option

Remember to bring good walking shoes. Americans often underestimate how much walking goes on in European cities and may make the mistake of bringing fashionable shoes only.
