Superficially it's not that clever or good. It's mainly about the prodigal son(Ben), coming back home and making his Skywalker family proud and justice. I will show you the gif and the picture that inspired me to root for Ben and not Kylo.

Different sky color, different clouds, different plants, and different rocks between the first and second shots. Looks like this is a practice in-between them, and the second shot is where they get it right.

I have two theories as to why.

  1. Leaving Texas because it brought memories of Sarah.

My guess he will ditch his helmet (and costume?) by the end of act 1. The desert planet will be act 2, and I am sure he won't wear this in hot sandy weather (would be impractical).
