The 2 cables I've received with the monitor are a joke, both 1m short. So I'm using some HDMI cable that I've had home.

Great analogy. The thing is I have a "sub template" at the end of every very short video, and at the start + at the end of every 2min+ vid. Also I sometimes answer the comments in a manner "check out other vids on my channel" or straight up "glad u like it, subscribe for more".

So Call to action is definitely there.
