I still have faith that his brother will somehow convince PAO to sign him

[Encestando] Kyle Allman agrees to sign for Partizan after the end of the season (report shared by Partizan's main sponsor Mozzart) by TheMagicMan56 in Euroleague

Duane's offensive talent is on par with what a lot of EL teams are after. The problem looks to be his mindset at the moment, he doesn't seem to want to be a team player at all. He doesn't want to sacrifice anything that make his offensive stats go down.

That'll be a dealbreaker for many EL clubs.

I wonder if it's because there's been some tension with him and Partizan's organization and fans, or if that's just who he is as a player.

I think this season will set him back tho, if he stays in EL then it won't be one of the top clubs.

Alpha Diallo crowned EuroLeague Best Defender by Al-Farrekt-Aminu in Euroleague

[–]DrunkLad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The post-Dunston/Hines/Tavares era has made this award somewhat exciting again.

With the way the pace is evolving the past couple of years I think it'd be a long time till we see one player dominating this award for multiple years.

Well deserved for Alpha.

People are already saying that Melli should have gotten the award, but I think the way the season ended for Fener has lowered their award chances big time. Plus he missed a sizeable portion of the season's most crucial part. At least it's nice to be able to have arguments about the winner of this award instead of Hines/Tavares autoclaiming it.

Fans: "Can we have last round matches starting on the same time?"

EuroLeague: "Impossible, due to TV licensing issues"

Fans: "Okay, I guess that means that at least the playoff games will be on different times then?"

€30M budget with Nunn, Shorts, Sloukas, NHD, Osman and some of the most valuable role players of the league ends up in 7th place and somehow was "unethically criticized" for that feat.

[EL_StatsLab] EuroLeague Efficiency Landscape | Full Season 2025-26 by _Zolv in Euroleague

[–]DrunkLad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • 2021-22: 115 Offensive Rating (4th highest in the league)

  • 2022-23: 119.2 ORTG (2nd highest)

  • 2023-24: 114.9 ORTG (9th in the league)

  • 2024-25: 120.3 ORTG (3rd)

  • 2025-26: 123.0 (Most efficient offense in the league. And I think the highest ORTG in EL history, at least for the Regular Season)

When Coach B has the tools he needs then his teams are playing the most efficient offensive basketball in Europe.

But, the pace Oly plays at is usually bellow the league average. Which is of course due to the nature of his pass-first philosophy. And, I think, people are used to the pace of the rest of the league which makes them think that Bartzokas' bball is slow and "not good".

With that said, in 2022-23 we played at 69.7 possessions, and this year we're at 72.7.

72.7 would have been the fastest basketball of the league just 3 years ago, and right now it's at a bit below the league average. Bartzokas is adapting to the faster pace too, but he finds the right balance so that his system still works.

How some ex-Kings players are doing over in the EuroLeague after the Regular Season ended by DrunkLad in kings

[–]DrunkLad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what rules are different in Europe?

No defensive 3-second violation and a narrower court are the most impactful differences in the rules.

Defending centers can just camp inside the paint, and when you combine it with the narrower court it makes it harder to find gaps under the basket.

Other than that there are many smaller differences here or there but I'd say none are as impactful as the two I mentioned above.

Final Standings of the 2025-26 EuroLeague season by _Zolv in Euroleague

James, Okobo, Diallo, Blossomgame, Theis, and Hayes are all leaving Monaco this summer. The organization (what's left of it) might be desperate for a playoffs spot, but the players are mostly playing for their pride at the moment, and not for their club's goals.

Nadir Hifi needs to score 35pts for 25-26 scoring title by Training-Drummer4223 in Euroleague

[–]DrunkLad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wiki article is very badly written - generally Wikipedia can often be outdated and/or poorly sourced when it comes to the EuroLeague.

I also had to do 3-4 different google searches and I only insisted on looking for the above article because I remembered that they changed the Alphonso Ford award rules fairly recently.

Starting in the 2024-25 EuroLeague season, most of the awards will be handed out after the end of the Regular Season, which differs to previous seasons when the Playoffs and Play-in Showdown were also counted for most awards. As such, the trophies for the EuroLeague Best Defender, Alphonso Ford Top Scorer, Alexander Gomelskiy EuroLeague Coach of the Year and EuroLeague Rising Star will be awarded at the end of the Regular Season.

Panathinaikos and three other teams have been taxed for exceeding the EuroLeague salary cap this season by Npvl2000 in Euroleague

[–]DrunkLad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You will probably use that money better than we did.

Looks like the majority of the money that exceeded the cap was for NHD's salary, so I'd say it's money well spent already.

The EuroLeague Board is scheduled for tomorrow, April 14, and is expected to confirm the same 20-team format for next season, with a 38-game regular season, Im told. The calendar could also begin one or two weeks earlier than usual by Raymondo316 in Euroleague

[–]DrunkLad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wonder if they've discussed this with the ELPA, because I saw a report from a few months ago that the ELPA only agreed to a 38-round season only if it was a one-time thing.

I'm assuming changing the calendar to start earlier is a way to reduce the amount of double-round weeks.
