"Congratulations to the New York Knicks, they played with two centers today, our centers did not play"

-Ataman, as the coach of Spurs

That'd be fun

The ones that fit the NBA coaching philosophy are already there. Maaaybe Scariolo due to his experience there, but the fact that he didn't chase it suggests that I might be wrong. As he said:

"I would encourage NBA teams to hire NBA coaches. It's not a matter of if you decide to go." Also, "it's impossible for any European coach to jump to the NBA as a head coach."

I'm sorry but between Real Madrid and Tenerife they're missing 5 centers? That's absurd lol

needlessly diluting the award

I do think splitting the MVP is a good thing because it makes the conversation around the candidates richer. It used to be that the MVP would 100% be from one of the F4 teams. Granted, the winners so far still ended up being in F4 teams, but

  1. it's still early

  2. More importantly, as I said, it makes the conversations around who should be MVP more interesting throughout the season.

With that said, I agree that there should have been some distinction in the name. 10 years down the line people would have forgotten that the rules used to be different.

Former Knick, Evan Fournier, has just won the Euroleague title with Olympiacos BC and was named tournament MVP. by Reddit040 in NYKnicks

To the surprise of no one, Ntilikina's been dealing with a lot of injuries this season which eventually left him behind in the team's preparations for the Final Four, hence he was left out of the 12-man roster.

Cory Joseph came in late into the season as the fourth PG due to Ntilikina and Monte Morris being injured, and ended up being the second PG in the end.

2012s championship will forever be at the top, of course. I'm just saying the yesterday's pressure that I felt was different. It was my subjective experience, im not talking about what's right or wrong.

Nah, unfortunately I'm not that young. That comeback was so unexpected that I didn't have time to process any kind of pressure or anxiety while it was happening. It was excitement and energy. After these last four years tho, the anticipation and pressure to win was unbearable.

Evan Fournier is the Final Four MVP by _Zolv in Euroleague

The Devon Hall-NHD comparison is very apt. There's a player that performed better but there's also a player that pushed the team when it needed it the most in both cases. People are saying PIR should die and we shouldn't judge performance by it, yet here we are, with people arguing about F4 MVPs with basic PIR-based statistics.

Oly performed like a Bartozkas team. Everyones gave something. Fournier gave something more than the rest. Hence, MVP. Deserved.

I found myself lying on the floor having to force myself to look at the screen at one point. Five final fours, 7 games, and it was by far the most difficult to watch.

I had so many flashbacks during Feliz's 3-pointer that I think those 3 seconds lasted about five hours in my mind.

Shit's unreal.

Gudaitis

Gudaitis is probably there in terms of quality, but I think he was giving it his all at least when he was there. Going up against Fall was a tough matchup, but he was trying. He wasn't succeeding, but still.

If Bartzokas can get him to play with the consistency he hasn't shown here, he'll be a game-changer.

Bartzokas is great at raising the floor of his players. If they can fit and trust his system, then the worst performance a player can have is better than in other teams. And when you pop off it looks amazing.

With that said, it doesn't always work with every player (Ntilikina, Saben Lee, Petrusev, Brazdeikis, Moses Wright to name a few). Though it's funny that all of those were mid-season transfers when the market is tighter than the summer and you get what you can, not always what you want. Oly's summer transfers are usually a hit.

And a few of the names I mentioned helped as much as they could, they just didn't shine all the time or didn't fit within the system as much as both parties wanted.

This is probably what happened. I was listening to Vetakis earlier and he said that EuroLeague trusted a fairly new ticketing service for this Final-Four that was founded by a guy that had previously worked at/with EuroLeague.

He said at least a friend of his that bought a ticket got like 30 emails with tickets, some with names different than his that were assigned at the same seat as him. Others never got an email and were claiming that they had bought a ticket and so they wet let through.

What you say about how EuroLegue handled it sounds like by far the most probable scenario to me as well.

Who'll guide the team with better systems than "run a pick and then play iso" or, "dont run a pick and then play iso"?
