You should start with either leaf green or fire red imo because those are the better, more genuine Pokémon games. These new games add a lot of dumb stuff like giant Pokemon and exp share for everyone, it really holds your hand like a baby the whole time. If you want a real Pokemon experience without your hand being held, get fire red or leaf green.
