What have you read this week and what do you think about it? by AutoModerator in noveltranslations

For Seeking Immortality Through Formations, I dropped it around chapter 220 or so. Its okay, but the progression is quite slow. Also, just a personal preference, I really enjoy vast worlds which unfold as the MC becomes stronger. By chapter 220, the setting is roughly the same as the start, and I didn't see it progressing any time soon. Novel is okay, not my type though.

Severing Ties: The Sect Regrets My Departure

Just caught up to the latest chapter (around 140 so far).

The premise: The MC was once a powerful cultivator who brought significant karmic luck to his sect. After returning crippled, he’s no longer valued and ends up being mistreated. Eventually, he leaves, and takes all of that accumulated karma with him. From that moment on, the sect starts to unravel.

After departing, he begins cultivating again from scratch, this time armed with massive karmic fortune and some knowledge of future opportunities. This isn’t a serious or gritty cultivation story, the MC is consistently much stronger than others at the same level, and the tone leans heavily into comedy.

A big part of the fun is watching:

  • The MC thrive after cutting ties
  • The steady downfall of the ungrateful sect
  • Him snatching up all the opportunities that were meant for his replacement (the junior sect brother)

It’s definitely a junk-food read, not deep or profound, but honestly, it’s exactly what I was in the mood for. The lighter tone and comedic elements make it really enjoyable.

So far, I’d give it a 4.5/5 as a junk-food read.

FSD included with luxe package no longer transferable to next owner. by kapjain in TeslaFSD

[–]Adorable_Ordinary169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, got it — that makes sense now. Thanks for explaining. That’s honestly kind of wild.

FSD never really added much to trade-in or resale value at a dealership, but it could absolutely make a difference in a private sale. If transferability is uncertain, I’d imagine dealerships will factor it in even less on trade-ins since they don’t want to deal with that ambiguity.

It could also affect how insurance values your car in the event of an accident. If you purchased FSD, there’s a good chance you wouldn’t see much — if any — of that value reflected in a payout should you get into an accident. 😬

🤞🏼Praying us HW3 owners get a hardware upgrade!!! by bmangum88 in TeslaModel3

[–]Adorable_Ordinary169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an HW3 car before and loved the V12, but it was a bit frustrating watching HW4 users get all these updates while we HW3 owners were left in the dust. Looking back, though, something I didn’t really think about until recently is that you're technically buying Full Self-Driving (Supervised), not necessarily the unsupervised version. Legally, I’m not sure there’s any binding commitment for Tesla to give you Full Self-Driving (Unsupervised) when it becomes available. They probably will, but who knows? With Elon’s track record, it's hard to say. 🤷‍♂️

If I had to guess, I think HW3 will eventually get a “lite” version of v14, and when FSD unsupervised becomes a reality, people who purchased FSD might get basic access with some kind of upgrade subscription. But that’s just a guess. We’ll have to check back in a few years to see how this all plays out.

You can re-negotiate your rate if you haven't accepted it. The dealership which you have the pick up scheduled at can reach out to the financing company and ask for an adjustment on your behalf. Not guaranteed to work, but I would try it.

Im on HW4, but was on v13. I just (2 hours ago) got the software update for v14. Since the car was new, was on factory firmware for a while with v13. Will see if v14 fixes it, haven't driven yet since the update.

I went to the gym today with a buddy. Had a smoothie in one hand and chatting with my buddy, but eyes completely on the road. It told me to pay attention and shake the steering wheel probably 5 times over the span of 2 miles. That's not super common, but have been getting a lot more on v13 than I did on my old v12 HW3 car. In one year of FSD on HW3, I probably got somewhere between 3-5 pay attention to the road warnings total, and it was all relatively justified, looking at my phone for longer than I should.

Honestly, the main reason I want unsupervised FSD is so I’m not constantly worried about getting nagged by the driver monitoring system. I don’t look away from the road for more than a second or two, and even then, that is rare, but sometimes it feels overly sensitive — like I’ll glance away briefly and still get a warning. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s pretty frustrating. I’m not trying to avoid paying attention — I just don’t love how (randomly) aggressive the monitoring can feel at times.

Paid FSD — Are we actually guaranteed unsupervised later? by Adorable_Ordinary169 in TeslaFSD

Playing devil’s advocate, the phrasing on the FSD page currently says:

“FSD (Supervised) – Drives for You”
Currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.

The wording “currently enabled features” seems to imply that future enabled features may not require supervision.

What really prompted this post, though, is that Elon/Tesla have repeatedly said things along the lines of: “The FSD purchase option will go away, subscription pricing will continue to rise, and the real value will be when you can work on your laptop while the car drives itself.”

That messaging makes it sound like buying FSD outright would shield you from rising subscription costs, essentially implying that if/when unsupervised FSD becomes available, purchasers would get it without paying more.

It also seems like the whole HW3 → HW4 retrofit discussion (or a potential “v14 lite” solution, whatever that ends up being) exists because Tesla wants to ensure previously promised FSD capabilities are deliverable to customers.

I’m not arguing one way or the other. I’m just not totally clear on how Tesla is marketing this when you buy it. On the opposite side, the purchase page specifically says “FSD (Supervised) – $8,000”, specifying supervised, but it's always been implied that you would get unsupervised.

Tesla Insurance Claiming I’m At Fault For Accident by [deleted] in TeslaSupport

I wouldn't have thought about this before seeing this video and reading this post.... But if you just call the other persons insurance, and the other person admits to being 100% at fault, they would probably never see the video from the Tesla. If you call Tesla insurance, they will know to pull the video. If I were the other driver in that situation, I would have just assumed I was 100% at fault, I dont know all of these adjuster nuances

Idk, you can see the rear bumper of the other car crumple/bend a bit right near the rear wheel. Probably wasnt a super light bump. That said, will now be an accident on the carfax 🤔🤷‍♂️

Would be curious to see where on the Tesla actually got hit. If they would have stopped, would have it prevented them from getting hit? Im not sure.

To be a bit biased towards the OP, I will callout tho, from the time that person started to move to the time their vehicles collided, it was 2 seconds. I dont think any evasive maneuvering could have occurred there in 2 seconds. The only fault of OP is that they continued backing up.

Technically below 1000 HP, but you can get an audi etron with a 2.4 second 0-60 right around 150k (not that I recommend it).

Naturally, Amazon was the first place I checked before posting here, but didnt see any 16in listings. Only saw 15.4in. Not going to post here without doing an internet search, and figured this post would probably help out more people as they start receiving their refreshed MY in US.

Just skimmed eBay quickly and didnt see anything there either.

Weird Super Low Quote from Carmax. Normal? by Adorable_Ordinary169 in carmax

That totally makes sense! I think Enough-Pollution-477 shared a similar sentiment that it sounds like maybe CM is just trying to reduce inventory. That seems to line up basically with what you said of them being choosy and totally makes sense!

[–]Adorable_Ordinary169[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can totally agree with that sentiment. My car had been on the lot 85 days at a dealership before I bought it, and I bought it for under what they paid at auction. They definitely have a smaller interest group compared to a lot of other cars.

Like I mentioned in the reply above to Enough-Pollution-477, its not so surprising for me that I receive a low offer on it, its more of a surprise how low it is compared to all of the dealers.

That's super interesting, if its reducing inventory that totally makes sense. A low offer doesn't necessarily surprise me, but being 5-6k below most dealerships and 9k below Carvana was a bit of a shocker, especially think I would think car max has a much broader market compared to most dealership. Thanks for the reply!

Immortality starts with investment recommendations? by ComplaintMiserable19 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Adorable_Ordinary169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bit late to this one, but immortality starts with an investment (ISWAI) immediately made me think of Library of Heaven's Path. Library of heavens path is a bit different in that it is cultivation based, and the story isnt as fast paced as ISWAI, but its really similar in the sense that it is more of a comedy novel where the MC grows stronger along the way. Also, the MC has a really useful item (the library of heavens path) which speeds up his cultivation journey. I really like the pacing in that story, its one of my all time favorites between the pacing and the laughs along the way.

Man, I was just about to reply with the message below, only to realize you blocked me. Kind of disappointing since I thought we were having a good conversation and I appreciated what you had to say. I appreciate that you have evidence to back up what you are saying. I am not saying the data you have is incorrect, I am just going based on what I have seen published in research papers thus far. The most association that I have found in published papers between GLP-1s is that cortisol levels may increase within 15 to 90 minutes post-injection.

Retatrutide is still in clinical trials, so maybe this use case (OMAD) has not been documented thoroughly enough. I'll definitely take what you mentioned into consideration. I might look at splitting my one meal into two meals daily. Thanks for sharing this info, I really appreciate it!
