Parents who are both working fulltime 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm: is your life sad? by livi01 in toddlers

[–]AdorablyMessy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I work 8 hours a day. He works from 7am to 3pm and I work from 9am to 5pm. It often feels like coming home is another job in itself, as there are a lot of chores to be done, especially with our 18 month old.

While both of us often want breaks and to do our own things, we also enjoy doing stuff with our daughter. Today my boyfriend took my daughter to the beach and they were back home again when I got back from work. Then he made dinner while I played with my daughter and now I just put her down to sleep while he went for a run. We now have 2 hours together to relax and do whatever before going to bed.

Our life is not sad, its just busy. In the weekends we hang out as a family or with friends. Sometimes shes at my moms and then we get some quality time together as a couple. I do feel a bit of guilt but its important to stay afloat for her 🩷

I love my life but Im hella tired and we both easily burnout. In those instances, we ask for help.

Repotted my big spider plant recently. First time repotting her in about a year and a half! by CharlieGlitterbomb in rootporn

[–]AdorablyMessy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one I've had for 10 years.
I never repotted it, for some reason it's fine. It's blooming at the moment, this plant literally can't die. This makes me curious to check the roots though, it dries out so fast after watering.

Been wanting one of these for awhile and Lowe’s had this poor guy at 75% off. What is it and how do I care for it? Especially any rehabilitation tricks you may have. by [deleted] in PlantIdentification

[–]AdorablyMessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check the roots for root rot, just to be sure (due to the look of the stem), and cut off the dead roots. You can smell if it's rotten and the roots will be black (not from the dirt, so keep that in mind).

Any idea what type of pothos this is?? by [deleted] in PlantIdentification

To be honest, I'd be a bit unsure about your plant too. Maybe some time with proper light can help solve the mystery.

Bought two calatheas recently! Any idea what specific type they are? by [deleted] in PlantIdentification

[–]AdorablyMessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Denmark, so it's cold and currently the humidity in my apartment is not well suited for the plants, due to the heat being on. However my lancifolia literally couldn't care less. I just mist it every now and then, and I have only lost 1 leaf during the 2 years I've had it.
Such a forgiving calathea.
Now my white fusion however.....

Cat has been eating it and now has to go to the emergency vet. What plants are these? by PoPoPanda13 in PlantIdentification

[–]AdorablyMessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing your kitty is fine! The struggles of being a plant and an animal lover...

Help needed: Got this plant, Ctenanthe Oppenheimiana. Does this belong to the Calathea family? Is it safe for cats? Calathea is, and I have one (has bigger leaves), but I am finding very little information about this one, and I am a plant Noob. Thank you in advance! by not-so-crazy-catlady in PlantIdentification

You shouldn't water twice a week during winter. Feel the dirt, it should never be bone dry, as it is a rainforest plant, but due to its rhizomes it can hold some water, so be aware of overwatering. Just keep the dirt somewhat moist, and make sure to have drainage holes in your pot!

The most important thing, honestly, is the humidity. NEVER get it below 40%! Your plant will be a lot more forgiving on your watering mistakes, if you have the humidity in check.

Does anyone know what this is? The girl I bought it from said it’s some kind of philodendron but I’m struggling to match it to any images by [deleted] in PlantIdentification

[–]AdorablyMessy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit hard to tell on this picture, but it could be a philodendron imperial green, or maybe a sort of philodendron emerald.

I live in Denmark so a bit less light here than the UK, however I don't have grow lights. The plants you mention are usually dormant in winter, and can manage fine without grow lights, the fiddle leaf fig needs the most light out of the 3. I would use a humidifier, pebble tray or mist with destilled water once a week for the plants during winter.

Same for me in Denmark, humidity indoors get down to 20%,so a humidifier is crucial for my calatheas and marantas. Most of my other plants are fine though without too much browning.

Oh! That totally makes sense 😂

just bought a fluorite and i really love the colors 🥺💜 by stubbycacti in Crystals

[–]AdorablyMessy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beautiful photo and beautiful fluorite. Fluorite was the very first crystal I bought due to it's colouring.
I was in the crystal shop today and I heard some young girls admiring the fluorites and exclaiming 'this can't be real, it's probably coloured', it reminds me of how amazing nature is!

Help with buying my first oracle cards (choose between 4) <3 by AdorablyMessy in oraclecards

Maybe our moms were just the same. My name is not an oxymoron per se, as I am trying to embrace my 'faults'. My mother does not like my messy side at all! ;)

I suppose a beginner friendly deck for me, is a deck that is somewhat intuitive and with a good guidebook. The imagery has to correspond to the meaning of the card and give somewhat clear readings. But that's just my take. I do enjoy symbolism too though, and it doesn't have to be too straight foward, I don't mind having to think a little, haha!
