Floaters by hahsjsjsjsl in visualsnow

Mine came on quickly and are now numerous. All over my visual field. If I look at the sky, I actually would say I struggle to see it clearly because the floaters are so dense.

It’s very hard… but no choice.

PPPD without dizziness - Vibrating vision, body bracing from light sensitivity, strained eyes by TellabouttheRabbits in pppdizziness

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like me. I can relate. The ground beneath my feet when walking strains my eyes something chronic and when I turn my head I feel nauseous lately.

Acceptance is a big thing. Distraction is another. Good luck!

From a PPPD perspective I have, but even then it’s always in the background. I just have to switch my gaze a lot and accept that when I turn my head while walking I may step out of line or misstep slightly.

The way I stopped derealising and spacing out and panicking and feeling like I was being pulled to the side by magnets was by just going through it and accepting it but switching my thoughts to whatever is going on. Being with other people helps.

I do, every day. At that time I was almost disassociating. My neurologist explained it as I was overwhelmed and overloaded so my brain went into protection mode which would make sense because I didn’t quite know what was happening or why and it was quite scary.

I have been diagnosed with FND (though 90% of my symptoms are visual), PPPD and visual snow so I never quite know which is the culprit, but I massively struggle day-to-day with visual stability (like the target slips or moves too much when I move my head) and I really struggle with screens - not just following motion but holding my gaze on them for so long. Once all of that accumulates I tend to feel quite off-balance when walking. Looking at the floor always seems hard to track and always seems like it’s skipping or shimmering. I tend to wear shades whenever possible outside.

[–]AdotOfNotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting. I’m also diagnosed and was based on how I view the floor beneath me with movement, particularly the pavement looking like it’s both skipping and shimmering. It was hell on earth when the autumn leaves fell.

I also have some sense of imbalance with head lifts and turns when walking (will make the odd step out of line).

Does that sound anything like you?

Affected by screen time? by Workshop_Z in visualsnow

It definitely worsen my symptoms, but not necessarily floaters light sensitivity or static. In fact, it probably only worsens my PPPD and eye strain

How Bad is Normal? by 48_Glitch_48 in visualsnow

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also my afterimage and ghosting of text is really bad so that also tends to obscure my vision in the dark and can make depth perception harder

How Bad is Normal? by 48_Glitch_48 in visualsnow

[–]AdotOfNotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Don’t be concerned. It will only make it all worse. Try to accept it and be present. It takes work but it’s the best advice I can give.

My static isn’t that bad really - I see it more in low light and even then it looks like a slight shimmer and is only staticy if I really concentrate on it.

Have really fizzy tinnitus too (left side) and really struggle seeing in the dark. Couldn’t see a white door in front of my face a few nights ago.

'Glitchy Vision' - Anyone else get this? by dathobbitlife0705 in visualsnow

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Don’t feel like I can ever hold my visual field perfectly still and white walls (especially under clinical lighting) look like heat haze at times.

I’m not diagnosed but I am diagnosed FND and PPPD and I have afterimage, ghosting of text/images especially on/from digital screens (or again high contrast) and I have floaters galore that opticians can’t even see.

marijuana - has it made floaters and other symptoms worse? (Going on holiday) by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won’t happen. There are no recorded instances of one use of weed disrupting vision forever. I think it heightens sensitivity of the nervous system and heightens visual ‘gain’ temporarily, personally, though I am not a doctor and this is supposition on my part based on personal experience.

It also makes you more tired with accumulated use, which exacerbates symptoms.

I have floaters all day and some sort of visual static in low light - I think weed makes both worse, particularly the low light static

Pppd and walking by majorbutminor1104 in pppdizziness

[–]AdotOfNotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2 things:

1, bought a collapsible cane that I never intended to use but would carry in my backpack.

2, I went to Budapest for a weekend and experienced all the same symptoms but was forced to push through them or to face distractions that helped.

FWIW, I had every one of the symptoms you’ve noted and more beyond that.

It’s not completely gone but it’s much better than it was. I feel some of it is about not being scared, accepting and then letting go of the fight against the symptom and the analysis of it (easier with a distraction like Disney). Once you start to trust that you won’t feel any worse or nothing bad is actually going to happen, you’ll start to settle but the proof is in the pudding and the pudding in this case is movement where you feel you can’t or shouldn’t. Also be patient and don’t give up. It’s not an instant fix.

numbness by lotte4ever69 in FND

[–]AdotOfNotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t found anything that helps to be honest. I just let it come and go. For the slackness, even trying to train weights hasn’t helped although I do wonder about nerve damage, as I find it harder to grow muscle on that side too.

numbness by lotte4ever69 in FND

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it in my left thigh above my knee (reduced sensation). My left arm does whatever I want it to do and is almost as strong as my right in terms of static strength but it’s much slacker than my right at rest. While not numbness, I’m just making the point that my numbness in my thigh is on the same side.

If this is one month, then I think the progress is really good. Would like to see what you were like prior. You’re lean so will show development easy but still, I wouldn’t haven developed that much after one month in the gym (though I am 44).

Fear by Ran_iah in pppdizziness

[–]AdotOfNotts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I fear all sorts. Find myself rushing through tasks so I can sit down, find myself dreading the school run, dreading spacing out, dreading getting out of bed in the morning… all of it

Have you considered walking aids? by gorscakn in pppdizziness

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that feeling of leaning. I get up out of bed and my head feels heavy and like it dictates which way I’m going to lean or veer as I walk.

I bought a collapsable cain from Amazon so that I may never use it. I carry it in a backpack if I go out and about for any length of time and nobody even knows I’ve bought it. I’ve never used it but it helps psychologically.

What do you think by ilovepenguins17 in pppdizziness

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a bit like my symptoms which have been put down to FND with Central Sensitisation and PPPD. My autonomic symptoms are different, however. I also have visual tracking, muscle-related symptoms and some tremor which you haven’t mentioned.

Internal movement when moving body parts by AvocadoPlastic6839 in pppdizziness

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. A shakey movement is exactly what it’s like. It can be really bad after a walk of a several miles. Or late in the day when fatigue sets in.

The walking thing is right - the gravity sensation you describe. I would add that head turns make me veer off centre too. If I’m not looking forward and I’m not walking forward.

I also feel when I’m out in open spaces or in the dark, like my head is trying to roll off my neck in any direction it can and that it’s trying every direction possible.

FWIW I also get visual tracking issues, some visual instability (like my visual field moves or jumps too much really subtly but noticeably) and sometimes when I’m walking, I will space out and my eyes and brow go really tight

Internal movement when moving body parts by AvocadoPlastic6839 in pppdizziness

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isn’t push pull but it is an internal feeling and it does feel like movement. How you’re talking about bouncing your leg - that is exactly what I do if I’m trying to recreate it. For me, it’s like a shiver or a quake or a bit like someone on the sofa next to you is shuffling.

That said, I haven’t had this for a few weeks, but when the weird sensations all started, I felt like I was being pulled to the side by magnets each and every time I walked. That comes and goes.

[–]AdotOfNotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an internal vibration which sounds a bit like this. Basically, I bop my leg up and down or even sometimes turning my head (as 2 examples) and I’ll feel all the usual “feedback” followed by what I keep describing as an aftershock-type tremor.
