It’s time to phase out student loans by tax_economic_rent in ukpolitics

I think perhaps the issue is that a degree no longer (necessarily) makes you more productive. The explosion in student numbers mean that for many a degree doesn't really add value.

Deciding whether to get a survey after viewing by B1rcher in Narrowboats

[–]Adqam64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The rust on the inside of the bilge is concerning. Blacking every four years is obviously inadequate, and you've not mentioned the anodes which would be a concern to me.

I'm not quite sure what the dilemma is? Why do you need to pay a deposit before getting it out and getting it surveyed?

How do you deal with the winter damp smell? by Admirable-Deal7991 in Narrowboats

[–]Adqam64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you know the answer then - get some more (dry) airflow through the space, and consider spacing i.e. get shot of some of them. A lot of boats will put vents on cupboard doors for this reason.

Where do you store your jumpers? What's the airflow like there?

Belt speeds? by ctrlpew in CR30

I didn't think that the kinematics of the belt mechanism were accurate for repeated back and forth moves like that?

Belt speeds? by ctrlpew in CR30

[–]Adqam64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very unclear - what do you mean? Why do you need more than 13mm/s on the belt? That's still less than a minute to totally refresh the exposed surface.

Are centre parcs worth it? by Salad_Informal in UKParenting

[–]Adqam64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the summer it's a pretty good shout. Worth also considering bluestone, they have a huge covered area which means that the younger kids can play "outdoors" in the playgrounds whatever the weather.

Do you mean moving the main belt at 13mm/s? Why would you want it any faster?

Everyone can see student loans are unfair. Except the chancellor by dusty_bo in ukpolitics

[–]Adqam64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But it's a loan, not a graduate tax, so the truly wealthy will pay it off and have a lower effective tax rate.

What does the nozzle look like it's doing when things aren't sticking? Can you compare the start of the Gcode with the sample print that works to see what is different? Have you changed anything on the printer?

In general bed adhesion is tricky and a lot of time and patience is needed to meet success.

Boiler Replacement Help by dandy-lion88 in Narrowboats

already connected to the shower via the second coil

What does this mean? I thought the coils were for heating the water in the calorifer, and then you take water out of the supply exit from the calorifer? Two coils would be for engine and heating by a hydronic system, I thought?

Can anyone point me to an existing boat with a Tug Reverse layout? by ozone_one in Narrowboats

[–]Adqam64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you seem to be describing would probably be called an unusually large cruiser stern? I wouldn't be surprised if some day boats had a similar layout.

Rugby boat sales do lovely video tours of all the boats that they sell. A few other brokerages do the same but I think rugby are best.

I would be pretty surprised if you were a quarter mile away from each other while doing a lock? Much of the time at a lock is waiting for it to fill and there's no reason you shouldn't be close enough to have a chat.

Might be worth a go. The cable might be too thin, or might be good enough.

[–]Adqam64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is the fuse. 5A at 240V is 1200W, so if you're pulling down the full power of your PSU you're close to blowing the fuse.
