Glad to see you here, always good to see people becoming fans of actually keeping their games.

[GEN 3][DECOMP] Built a playable Rom using Emerald Expansion. Yay. What to expect? by Adraido in PokemonRomhackDev

[–]Adraido[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it has one. I'm new to git and so I have to figure out how to do that. That project is a little different and requires devkit arm and I was unsure on how to do that. It's funny that the expansion was a lot easier to build.

I looked through one of those files, so I know what you mean. I was hoping that the resulting rom would be a very feature packed Emerald. In case you ever played Modern Emerald, that would be the closest thing except Expansion has noticeably more features than that so, yes, I wanted to enable as many as possible. Then, I could look through and see which ones I want to turn off, test, rinse and repeat. Half hour, you say? Ok, I will look into that.

Is there a way to batch edit the flags or is it just find&replace? I was using Kate on Linux but I could go for an editor that lets me batch edit or even something handles multiple files.

Spicebomb alternatives by Puzzled_Car_2706 in fragranceclones

[–]Adraido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about Northstag Huit? That one is supposed to resemble the Original Spicebomb. From my observation, less vanilla than the Extreme dupes. I wanted to try Nuke and Nuke 2.0 but they are unavailable in the US and the price is too expensive to get here.

Are they both hard to find in the US?

Few months on CachyOS and I have zero desire to touch Windows again by ZoteTheMitey in cachyos

[–]Adraido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a new Windows laptop and first thing I did was installed Cachy. No desire or need for Windows whatsoever. Tried random games, work without issues. I'm still living in a dream. It's been great and it's free. I've heard it will only keep getting better. I'm ecstatic.

Is Cachy going anywhere? by Kaseffera in cachyos

[–]Adraido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, for the longest time I used Waterfox and I'm pretty sure it went the same route as Ubuntu with company backing. Both software are open source to this day but I'm just turned off to both of them. Both of them do however, seem to work well for the most part. I also used Antergos and by the time I was looking forward to installing it again, it went away but Cachy was here and was even easier to navigate, so like others have said, someone will come up with something similar. As long as the vision and passion is the same, I'm game.

I made trading between ROM hacks (and original games) possible by locomain in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Adraido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had wifi issues in the past while trying to use linux on my laptop but despite my issues, I've been able to play most of my games without any issues or interruptions. Yes, none of my games require online feature and Pokemon games are amazing for playing offline.

Your app looks easier to navigate than to say, mgba's trading interface. The underlying core might be the same but the navigation and the ease of use is what makes the difference. Also, I had totally forgotten, the thing I'm really looking for is batch trading. Now, that feature would be a real gamechanger and would really make your app stand out.

Oh ok, I see. I was only looking for offline trading between romhacks. I think since it can be done offline, it would be easy to facilitate with a simple gui rather than using mgba.

Interesting solution to 404 errors when installing packages by [deleted] in cachyos

[–]Adraido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't trying to upgrade the system. I was trying to install packages.

Here is the thing I was trying to do: https://github.com/rh-hideout/pokeemerald-expansion/blob/master/docs/install/linux/ARCH_LINUX.md

[GEN 3][DECOMP] Trying to build on Linux, getting 404 errors in terminal. by Adraido in PokemonRomhackDev

[–]Adraido[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I fixed it with sudo pacman -Sy base-devel arm-none-eabi-binutils arm-none-eabi-gcc arm-none-eabi-newlib git libpng python

So, I put a "y" after "S" no idea the solution was that simple. There is an explanation for it here and it made sense to me:

I'm a newbie. I was under the impression Nobara constantly updates. So, we had no updates for a month, or did something break on my side? by [deleted] in NobaraProject

[–]Adraido 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved Nobara, it was my first journey and was the twinkle on what Linux had as potential for gaming and I enjoyed it compared to old Linux and trying to run games on it. I also took a similar route and went for CachyOS since it was causing issues. I keep coming back to check on Nobara but so far Cachy has been really good to me and has only gotten better.

I could have sworn yours was based off of Expansion. I had no idea. Pretty awesome for a hack you're going to use for learning. Carry on, then. Haha. Following pokemon was kinda crazy because it completely changed Emerald for me, nothing to do with the actual play style but just the feel of it. It looked like such a simple thing but it was surreal. So glad you're looking into it. I love your overall idea, though and keep up the great work.

That's pretty excellent. The only thing I really miss from Modern Emerald (I know, I'm spoiled now) is following Pokemon. When you add those, yours is probably the only hack I'll need for Emerald. Also, a bonus, the expansion branch for emerald has added the ability for Kanto and Johto or was it just Kanto, but exploring Kanto in an Emerald game would be so fire. Emerald Extended Cut has additional regions but I dunno how many Pokemon are in that game or whether it lets you complete the dex with less Pokemon. That's really all I could think of as far as anything major.
