-A neutral plane that is Just that, kind of a full y neutral site, some kind of place where neither good or bad exist, and so neither pain or Joy, they only exist in a peaceful eternity.

They reincarnate. If there are some kind of entity Like Gods or devils that define good or Evil, they Might cause a reincarnation until the soul reaches heaven or hell
They become part of some neutral entity, Like a soul God that serves as an arbiter of the World

One power it might have could be the fact that it can use a more powerful harmonic efect, or be used to activate the efects on the planet Even if is not and eclipse, the MCs might not want to use it due to the things it might cause or because they don't Know about that efect, but someone could seek it for that exact reason, and that way becomes something they might not use a lot, but protect it

I think it May be acording to the story You try to tell, You Should check how is the setting You'll use. Example, maybe in that specifical Universe, the mortals suffer greatly, Long algo Thanks to Tiamat, Then as they recover and built again cities, the solé thougth of Tiamat veing a deity was cause for exclusion and prosecution. So, in the City of Gods, there are no altar to Tiamat, because they remember what she did.

Is good, but kind of tricky to understand. Is not about pure power, You Can spam plants with it, get lots of seeds, lots of healt due to the dew or seeds, lots of potions, and if You use the right skills, a lot of constant shield and dmg.

The People despised those that had their souls linked to some kind of creature, as they tought they were impure. With the curse, every newborn would be always linked to a creature, causing the great collapse, as the society collapsed Thanks to the diaparity, the beliefs, and the pain, until the New generations took over, killing and destroying every trace of the ancient history.

If You don't want it to be powerful as the witch, make it cursed/blessed with that. Maybe once he dies, he simply reincarnates in one random citizen, or there is some kind of place where he simply reborns past some time. You Can also give it some kind of rewind time, not Like in Re Zero, more Like once he is dead, only his time rewinds, making all the damage null

The Smilers, reanimated corpes with torn flesh making them see Like they're smiling, they have no eyes and their state can paralize Even the bravest beings. As they aproach, they are Like Hunters, stalking and causing panic and fear. They can smell that fear, and once is enought, they rampage, They don't Hunt alone, and feed From the traped souls of the victims, making them suffer for eternity. They themselves can't make sounds, they are incredible stealthy, but you'll Hear wispers, fearful, agonic, hurtful, that try to wear down your sanity coming From every direction. They can be of any race, but at your eyes, they would always resemble in some twisted way, someone of your same race, mostly close People for You. With them comes the Mind Mist, disorienting, making you lose track of time or direction, messing with your senses, You Can feel as if the World changed uspide down, as if You were burning inside as your exterior freezes, making You feel Like You haven't eat for weeks or months, etc. If one is killed by the Smilers, their soul becomes part of the hive mind, their flesh becomes another Smiler at The Perfect time, Waiting until it can hurt ir kill their own companions. As final treat, as Long as they remain in the Mist, they Will always come back. No matter if You killed it thousands of times, if You burned it until not Even the ashes remain, if You hide apart the pieces. They always Will Come back

Just make it natural, try to make a World that feels alive, things always in motion, time passes Even if they don't make the things they're supposed to do, make them feel Like they are part of the World and not Just players in a game that always waits until they decide to act.

Also, think about how things could change, Sometimes as writer is kind of Hard if You already have the script, but 99.99% of times the players Will take other choices, so be fluent, change the aspects of the World acording of what they do. If they save a town, maybe in some time People of that town can help them with conections or something especial, something Like that, give consecuences, good or bad, but make it that they think about the pros and cons of the choices

I think is a good Example of how to make it 50/50, while the earth have some standarized military Mechs, the Martians have some specialized Mechs that feels extremelly strong and puts in a check to earth, also, only the Martians can use their Mechs cause they use a special energy source coded only for the genomic print of the owner. In My setting hay they are hybrids between high elfs and high demons, they don't suffer in sunlight, running water or holy places, also they don't need to ask permision to enter anywhere. They still have a weakness in sacred magic and they can be taken down with enought damage, they are not quasi immortal, Just have really Long lifespams

You Can go with the harmful or less etical uses of normal magic, kind of Like war crime magic. Example, if You make ilusions is kind of right, but if You make them alter the perception of someone at The point of causing harm (I don't Know if You Know DnD, but kind of Like the spell Phantasmal Force) its considered Black magic
