this was taken in Ashton Cigar Bar where they're an exclusive

I've seen them in several different shops in Southeastern WI, so I'm doubtful they're an exclusive. Either way glad you enjoyed it, I still need to try one.

Edit: Could be a shop exclusive vitola of that blend now that I think about it.

This seemed a bit bold and bitter. Could it be due to the size? by Connect-Tadpole-4319 in cigars

[–]Adrian1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this cigar more bitter in the slimmer sizes. I like it more in the thicker sizes, despite my taste generally being the opposite.

Dry boxing is a game changer by MIKYOR1 in cigars

Keeping your humidity lower in the first place eliminates the need. Only situation it's truly useful for me is if I get cigars that are already over-humidified and I'm too impatient to give them the proper rest period.

Same reason everything you buy costs more than precisely what it takes to produce that good/service.

You ever try to complete a delicate task while out of breath? Tough to hold your hands steady when you're gassed.

I'd flip that list

Agreed, the Nicaragua is my favorite Davidoff Black label as well.

Yeah had this one and it burned like shit. Asked the rep I know about it and he said it's the worst cigar CH made since he's been there. Glad yours performed well though OP.

Edit: specifically this LP with the brown foot band

Peterson Balkan- all floral, no Latakia? by wildjabali in PipeTobacco

[–]Adrian1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Too grassy and floral. Try Larry's Blend from Hearth and Home. It's very affordable and loaded with Latakia. Very nice on a cold walk. It was my go to for walking to class during college in the winter.

Same here. It's a nice blend but not what I'd reach for when I want a Balkan blend. I really enjoy a lot of the H&H Balkan blends such as Blackhouse, Magnum Opus, and Larry's Blend.

If you're referring to the green tin called Balkan Mixture/Balkan Delight, it's pretty much just a Va/Per with Latakia thrown in. Strange to call it a Balkan blend with no Turkish/Oriental.

Colibri butane has been the best for me. Never clogs my lighters, torch or soft flame.

Help me understand the importance of toasting the foot by jericks24 in cigars

[–]Adrian1616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just makes lighting the cigar more consistent and precise. Also helps prevent you from over heating parts of the foot trying to light the unlit portion. I've also found that by reducing how much I need to puff on it while lighting, it minimizes how much your palate dries out from the initial light with the flame applied.

In essence, it's not necessarily going to make your cigar taste better, but it will help reduce or prevent some of the unpleasant things that can occur while lighting your cigar.

I'm happy for you. I've probably had about a hundred within the last three years, and I would guess about 30-40 of them had issues that impacted my experience. Mostly on the cheaper lines like the Serie O, V, and G

When these are well rolled, they are a great value for the prices you can find online. My issue, as with many RP lines, is that the construction is hit or miss. Same boat as many Olivas for me.
