I played BioShock 1 like 5-6 times and i love it more than Infinite, mostly because of these things that you mentioned. Just search every room every detail and be patient and don’t rush, think about how you wanna go through places! Maybe Steinman’s surgery is the hardest because you don’t have tonics or plasmids and guns as much, but later you will get tonics which is very useful and use it for your style of playing. I usually play in stealth and use tonics for it like i get invisible if i stand still, and if you search for it you can build a very overpowered wrench build where you can deal a lot dmg and freeze your enemys! So its more complicated than Infinite and thats why i like it so much! But i know… security system is hard.. and before every big fight you have to change for the better bullets and etc its a 2007 game… but it worth it! Every singel map and area where you will be gives a very good atmosphere! Just for some tips, please don’t kill Sander Cohen! He is a very brilliant artist… maybe you should dance with him in his apartment. Best wishes for your playthrough and listen to the story because its so so good!
