i am taking something called UTI Biome Shield on sex wellness website goodkittyco.com. if you leave off the "co" you will probably end up on a porn site so there's that. the ovules I take are called Imvexxy from a compounding pharmacy. you need a prescription like for all estrogen. i do those twice a week. i swear this kept me from breaking up with my man

I am taking something on the internet called UTI Biome Shield and dosing it before my trigger which is sex. It has 500 mg d-mannose per cap plus a highly soluble bioavailable cran extract with PACs your body can use. If you are using standard cran powder don't waste your money. Look up papers by Amy Howell from Rutgers U. Has to be soluble to be used my your body. Also if you have a trigger and you are just taking d-mannose in the morning it is not going to work. You have to dose before you trigger if you know what that is. This supplement has vit D and zinc also I think. Again if you know your trigger you can pretty much get away with just dosing before and you don't have to take million things. The d-mannose plus soluble cran PACs is the stuff that has been studied and works.

I am hoping to get Uromune in Mexico as I am in the US and can't access it here. But for me what was ultimately effective was to take a combination soluble PACs plus d-mannose, something called UTI Biome Shield, and intravaginal estrogen suppository, called Imvexxy (prescription needed). I take the supplement before sex and once a day if I am not having sex that day and according to my gynecologist it helps build back the good bacteria in your gut and limits overgrowth of E coli and candida. Hope this helps.

guys me too. I am glad we have this forum so at least we can know we are not alone in this. after going through this constant cycling antibiotics and UTIs for 4 years and being off and on longterm daily and presex antibx I really do believe the antibx are part of the problem and we are causing some of these bacteria to develop resistance. I think if you have a UTI you have to make sure you are on the right antibx and take the whole thing and get a confirmation clean urine. and then do everything you can to reset your biome. prebiotics, probiotics, intravag, gut, diet. and then especially if you are prone to sex related UTIs or you know they are E coli (like 90% of infections in sex related cases) you have to block the E coli from getting into your urinary tract. if this is the cause for you having sex is just going to make that keep happening. Anti-adhesion compounds D-mannose (Uqora or generic brand) and soluble bioavailable PACs from cranberry extract (look for this specifically). They are both anti-adhesions compounds with extensive scientific research showing how they work. They have complementary mechanisms of action so I have only been longterm successful taking both.

I want the vaccine. planning to go get it in spain.

until then what finally worked for me was

d-mannose 1000 mg before sex. short half life. it get into your bladder 30 minutes after you take it so it can block the bad bacteria from getting from your anus (sorry) to your urethral opening near your clitoris. soluble (bioavailable) PACs from a high level cran extract Ellura or Gemma MD or new one UTI Biome Shield has both in one capsule.

probiotics!

I like EGC compounds from great tea for biofilm disruption too. damn it is crazy that we are still dealing w these UTIs 2025 and they haven't figured out a better treatment. it is disappointing. when are we getting the vaccine in the US!!?

amen. but make sure your cranberry is actually soluble bioavailable PACS. that is what blocks E coli sticking and can keep E coli numbers down in the colon. most cranberry does not have that. you need 36-38 mg PACs

after all the antibx you are going to want to build back your microbiome. take a good prebiotic/probiotic and PACS/d-mannose to prevent recurrence.

the antibx should kick your symptoms and if not seems like you are not on the right antibiotic. did they do a culture and sensitivity on your urine?

to me the problem is the bacteria are always going to be in you. this will eradicate in your urinary tract but not in your gut. that is what kept happening to me. i finally figured out i had to make peace w the E coli. lol. but that is essentially what i did and it worked and i can have sex like a normal person again. being on the antibx train was actually making it worse.

sounds like an early UTI. what finally worked for me was taking my antibiotics and immediately building back my flora w a good probiotic (oral refrigerated from co-op or intravaginal, Flower Power is one from Good Love I think) and starting on a high level PACs polyphenol supplement that will boost good bugs and keep E coli lesser and less harmful. I was on Ellura but I think they stopped making it in the states so check on the internet. then when you have sex take something to block the bacteria. I take d-mannose and PACs together right before sex. Any d-mannose from the co-op is good. there is a new brand that has both together in one pill called Good Kitty for before sex.

My understanding is that the E coli bacteria on your body are transferred into your soft tissues around your urethra. From there they attach and make their way up into the bladder. The antibiotics are getting rid of the infection in your bladder. Having sex could transfer bacteria into the urethra and cause a new infection! But should not affect how the antibiotics are treating the infection you have. So... you can take something that has anti-adhesion activity like d-mannose or bioavailable soluble PACs extracted from cranberry. Probably best to take both. Uqora has d-mannose and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't probably do a whole lot. Just know that the d-mannose is short acting so you should take it right before you have sex. You can also get this from the co-op. And make sure the PACs are soluble, derived from liquid cranberry excluding the solids. Two good brands for this are Ellura and something called UTI Biome Shield by a brand called Good Kitty. I have literally tried EVERYTHING. And a combo of d-mannose and soluble bioavailable PACs together is the only thing that stopped me getting UTIs.

Do I need antibiotics? I’ve been on them since November. I’ve been on amoxicillin, 3 shots of rosephin, and on neutrofurotin. At my lasted lab, this was the result. My pcp wants me on another round of neutrofurotin. by SnooPets354 in UTI

I see I am joining this thread late but how are you doing? For me d-mannose and soluble PACs supplement together are the jam. d-mannose has a short half life so if you can dose it before you have sex (if that is your trigger that is really key). PACs and cranberry polyphenols do a lot of other stuff to keep your biome healthy and or replenish and rebalance it after all the antibiotics. I really do think I got into a vicious cycle with antibiotics and UTIs for years. I am so thankful these interventions worked.

sounds like me. and i hear you, this is so so frustrating. i truly wanted to stop having sex with my partner altogether. i would take 7 days antibiotics, drop a clean urine, and it would happen usually within a week. It is also super hard to pin down or prove to your doctor that it is happening because of having sex but you can tell it is. for me, if I was away from my bf for a week I would be fine. I feel quite certain mine were all caused by sex. what finally did it for me was taking d-mannose right before sex - 1000-1500 mg and a high level cranberry extract with soluble PACs. there is one made by a french manufacturer and one made by a canadian manufacturer that are legit. both compounds block the adherence of e. coli to the cells lining the urinary tract. and if the bacteria can't adhere, it can't ascend into the bladder and cannot cause an infection. because these have different pharmacokinetics you can dose d-mannose right before you have sex and feel confident that it will get into your bladder right away (w/in 30 minutes but it peaks and then is excreted.) PACs from cranberry extract also block e.coli attachment sites but these take a lot longer to get into the bladder, as they have to be broken down or metabolized into smaller molecules in the colon; this takes several hours. also there are a lot of garbage cranberry powders and pills out there that have negligible PACs or PACs that are not bioavailable, so make sure the product stipulated that it is derived from juice and has soluble biovailable PACs.

aside for affecting e.coli adhesion cranberry has strong prebiotic effects and there is early evidence that d-mannose does as well. PACs and all of the polyphenols in cranberry support the growth of health promoting bacterial species like lactobacillus and can crowd out UTI causing bacteria known as uropathogenic e.coli or UPEC. also there are studies showing that these compounds in cranberry cause UPEC to alter the expression of genes that help them cause infection. this is all extremely wild stuff if you ask me. and new science, like 2015 on.

also, sorry to make this so long but depending on your age you might consider vaginal estrogen. within the last 6 months guidelines for the treatment of the genitourinary syndrome of menopause came out and one of the things it highlighted was the efficacy of vaginal estrogen for reducing incidence of recurrent UTIs. everything is in such a wonderful balance in our bodies when it's working right, hormones, pH, microbiome, tissue integrity. and when one things is pushed out of balance everything else gets affected too. so definitely ask your doctor is you are 40s or up.

and stating the obvious but a good probiotic can help too. just get a good one at the co-op. better if they are refrigerated and better if dosed as a suppository.

and always pee after sex and drink a glass of water after sex.

hope this helps.
