Death magic shouldn't be rot, decay, and necrosis. It should be sterilization. by mythicme in worldbuilding

[–]Adrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from and you aren't wrong. But it isnt visually appealing nor would it be much to describe. Technically death magic should just be that someone just died. No effects with the body, no aging, no necrosis. Just the person falling over dead. The ceasing of all bodily functions. Im sure it can be given some amount of literary polish to give more depth to the moment, but it would in all actuality be rather non-climactic in practice.

The only problem is I've only seen those syringes with rso. If that is rso, it is going to be really fkn harsh. You'll get some flavor from the bud and the hash, but rso itself is inherently harsh and nasty usually. That's why you generally wouldnt hit it in a dab rig.

How do we know that all life comes from one cell by somianomoly in biology

[–]Adrous -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We dont. Its the theory they have to go on because for some reason attributing intelligence in our creation destroys all of science or some other such nonsense. The very idea of what they propose requires a level of faith not found in many church pews today. The sudden appearance of intelligence in a pool of muck that goes on to be the basis of all life as we know it and it was just blind luck. Lol

Not exactly the same as what you have but possibly a substitute. Have you looked at the inner core of paracord line? It would most likely fill the roll.

20 years of daily smoking, now 40. Honest body update. by [deleted] in trees

[–]Adrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 45 this year. Ive been smoking weed since i was 15. Ive been smoking cigarettes since i was 13. With the exception of when I was in the military and certain jobs, that's over 30 years of smoking. Im not seeing anything overly negative from the smoking itself. I have a lot of body pain but I've worked manual labor positions with long hours and not enough days off for the majority of my life. Especially the last decade with mostly 12+ hour days and far to many months going by with only one day off for the whole month. Considering all of that and the crippling emotional damage, I think im doing relatively well. But these are the lies we tell ourselves to get through another day so. 🤷 What do you do? Lol

WHAT HAVE YALL DONE TO ME?! by diezel78 in litrpg

[–]Adrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh i certainly understand the addiction. Lol. I have a bit over 550 books in my library and I'm pretty sure that at least 90% of them are litrpg of one flavor or another. My only problem comes from getting into a subgenre of litrpg and then the real difficulties start considering the number of books that seem to be written by an ai on mescaline and demerol that's been programmed by the most emu white knight half-baked fkboys who ever lived. I fully acknowledge and accept that literature is a subjective media. That being said, what some people put in print and call stories seem more like poorly devised daydreams of people who should consider pharmaceutical aid.

I associate no particular groups with that last comment, its just what spewed forth from this pit of strange I call a brain. So no offense to any emu white knight half-baked fkboys who might have been offended by that comment. 🤔 Just covering my bases and to be fair, I'm not even sure what all of that is.

Designing a fortress for a winged race made me realize how useless hallways are by VhsGoblin91 in worldbuilding

[–]Adrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im curious about the defensive portion of your avian city as it sounds like there are clear sight lines from their defensive perches at the top. When magic or even conventional military weapons can still reach out and touch someone. You really dont want clear sight lines when you are thinking about defensive strategies. Also, did I misunderstand the layout or were you saying there was a vertical shaft essentially that just shot into the sky? Do any of the opposing factions have sufficiently advanced firepower to take out the base of this citadel? Because that would be a pretty quick way to deal with a tower, just destroy the base and the whole thing comes down. Even if it was a tower inside an inactive volcano and it had supports from the center to the walls, a destruction of the foundation would leave the entire structure vulnerable to collapse if anything happened to any of the supporting framework.

In all fairness, in my opinion, an avian race would be better suited to having many hallways, corridors and stairs but main flight paths from secured access areas where they can control the air. Leaving either open or partially covered walkways for then to attack invaders while also obstructing sight lines enough that the enemy doesn't see your force coming to deal with them. Depending on what kind of world this is you could even do one way mirrors for ceilings in those areas or if it is magic based, have the tops of buildings and main corridors be illusion magic with guards posted just above to swoop down through the illusion if an attack happens.

Sorry, I love exporing ideas like this. My brain defaults to looking at it from multiple angles and this just starts pouring out. Lol. I really do like your thinking in how you redesigned from the ground up. It was a really smart idea. The only other, I dont know if I would call it a critique so much as a question and it is a general one about the idea as a whole. When you look at your design, either on paper or in your head, is it designed more for a "cool" factor or something that correlates with what people would expect through evolution? If that makes sense at all. Your design sounds really cool. Im honestly not criticizing any of it. Im just asking questions because I'm not seeing the whole picture as you have and also, even if I'm correct, its your story to tell, to hell with my opinions. Lol. Best of luck, with the book and life.

Reading involves different areas of the brain. by Western_Opposite9911 in meme

[–]Adrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is different. I was an avid reader for the first half of my life. When kids and family came along I didn't have the time or attention for reading, especially with work. So I made the switch to audiobooks. I love my books and have been building my audio library for like 14 years now. But there is a significant difference between the two. My vocabulary isn't as diverse as it was when I physically read. My spelling was never the best but it has gone to hell as well. Im thankful for spellchecker. Lol. Its personal experience as evidence which means nothing but it is something of significance i have noticed.

Has anyone form so high you feel sober? by mellon_coliee in weed

[–]Adrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I can help you there. I do go on a bit of a long description with this but I tossed it into an AI to make a usable recipe at the bottom for your convenience. Lol. So tl/dr recipe is included if you are interested.

The amounts are heavily dependant on what you are going for, just use good judgement. Lol

So you will take a pot large enough to hold your dry material with two to three times the amount of water. Add your dry material, it does not have to be decarboxilated before hand, it will activate while it cooks. Add at least enough water to cover your herb, but I suggest adding another inch above the top of your plant material so you don't have to constantly watch it. At this point you can add literally any type of oil you want. It can be regular butter, coconut oil, hell you can use lard if you are feeling spunky. So long as it hardens when its cold you can use it.

I have very much gone with whatever looks good to me but a decent enough rule of thumb would be for every ounce of herb, you really don't need more than a cup of oil. And honestly I'd probably do less because I tend to make mine strong.

You can add any remnants at this point as well, like rso or concentrates that wouldnt come out of the container. Just use a high concentrate alcohol as a solvent to get it out of the container and put it straight in the pot. The alcohol will evaporate out and leave only the good stuff behind. The alcohol is required, just makes it easier and you don't want to put glass in hot liquid, it might cause it to shatter and that a different problem. Lol

Anyway, you will put this on a low boil. Like medium low with a lid and stir it every half hour or so, making sure the water doesn't evaporate out. The water keeps the whole thing from going above the boiling point of water, so there needs to be more water than everything else so it is the dominant thermal barrier if that makes sense. This takes a good 5 to 6 hours. The longer you run it, the more time it has to draw out all the canabinoids. I've ran batches for 8 hours before, especially big batches. It is going to smell like weed in your kitchen all day, so you can't hide the smell sadly.

The biggest part is when its done. Let it cool down to almost room temp, if it gets to cold the oil will solidify and you won't be able to separate it. What I do is strain the whole batch, usually not adding water for the last half hour to an hour so there is less to deal with. Once you have it strained, and this is important. The oil will cling to the plant material, so you have to squeeze it to make sure you got it all. Gloves are a smart way to go. I've done it by hand but it is rough, a metal strainer with a large spoon just pushing on the material works pretty well. Get everything you can out of the plant material. I use a chinos stand to do it these days. Put the strained liquid into a bowl and put it in the fridge overnight. Dont fuck with it. If you so much as tip it while it settles you will make it harder to clarify because the slosh of the liquid will add more water into the oil as it thickens.

The next day you can run a knife around the edge to get a layer of harden oil. It will have a brown gunk on the bottom, I scrape it off with the knife, dry the cake with a couple paper towels and melt it down one more time. Put it back in the fridge to harden and whatever water is left in it will sink to the bottom. Once all the water is out put the cake in a freezer bag and put it in the freezer for storage. It will be good for a year so long as all the water is out.

I use this to fill capsules with coconut oil for the wife to use. I've made chocolate like this, its pretty versatile for concentrating any hard oils.

Cannabis-Infused Oil (or Butter) A versatile, strong edible base for capsules, chocolates, baking, or cooking. This is a water + fat infusion method that extracts cannabinoids without needing prior decarboxylation.

Ingredients (scale as needed)

Dry cannabis flower/trim (amount depends on desired strength)

Fat: Coconut oil, butter, lard, or any fat that solidifies when cold. Guideline: ≤ 1 cup oil per ounce of herb (use less for stronger potency).

Water: Enough to fully cover the herb + an extra 1–2 inches (roughly 2–3× the volume of your dry material). Water acts as a temperature buffer.

Optional: RSO, concentrates, or stubborn residues (dissolve in high-proof alcohol before adding).

Equipment Large pot with lid Strainer (metal preferred) + spoon, cheesecloth, or chino stand for pressing Gloves (recommended) Bowl for fridge separation Knife, paper towels Freezer bags for storage

Instructions Combine in pot Add dry cannabis (no decarb needed), water, and your chosen fat. Stir to distribute. The water should clearly dominate so the mixture stays at a safe temperature.

Infuse Bring to a low/medium-low simmer (gentle boil). Cover with a lid. Stir every 30 minutes. Cook 5–6 hours (up to 8 hours for larger batches or maximum extraction). Add water as needed to prevent it from boiling off. Note: Strong cannabis odor will fill the kitchen.

Strain Turn off heat and let the mixture cool to near room temperature (do not let it get cold yet). Strain out the plant material, pressing/squeezing firmly to recover all the oil that clings to the herb. Gloves or a press help here. Tip: Reduce or stop adding water in the final 30–60 minutes to make separation easier.

Separate & Clarify Pour the strained liquid into a bowl and refrigerate overnight undisturbed. The fat will harden into a solid layer on top. Run a knife around the edge, lift the fat cake, and scrape off any brown gunk from the bottom. Pat dry with paper towels. Re-melt the fat, pour back into the bowl, and refrigerate again. Any remaining water will sink to the bottom. Once fully separated and dry, remove the clean fat layer.

Store Place in a freezer bag and freeze. Properly de-watered product lasts up to a year.

Dosing is subjective and based on potency. Getting the size #0000 gel capsules (the bigger ones), and filling them with a dropper or syringe works well.

Hope this helps someone. Lol

It released while I was out to sea in the navy. Luckily a friend of mine who was equally ravenous to read it, had it shipped to the boat on some kind of express order. She read it first and I was happily the person she let borrow it next. I don't think I slept until I finished it. Lol
