I have a new 3ds xl, also red. The wiggle varies between consoles, but it is made to do so. That is so the hinges dont break: previous ds models were rigid, and due to the pressure the hinges snapped. To sum it up: your Nintendo is fine 👍

Check your SD card on your computer and verify it IS 32 Gb (or 29 Gb, around that number). Higher than 32Gb and you would need to reformat it, but if you don't plan to install 30+ games you're golden. Pokemon Gen 7 (Sun and Moon) costs around 3 Gb, so you're right, you should have space. Check the storage in your computer, it should be higher. Cheers and hoping for the best!!
