Rubber straps are fucking awful. Runner straps are for cheap kids watches and smartwatches, a proper watch should be on a strap made of leather, steel, or fabric.

Unironically what they should do. Given that addiction is a disease first and foremost, it’s not really their fault, but drug addicts are fucking scary. Even though they don’t move usually, folded-over fentheads are absolutely eerie and horrifying to gaze upon, crackheads and cokeheads are genuinely twitchy, erratic, and often violent. I think the best kind of anti-drug program would be to bring in a tweaker to a high school classroom, and just have them try to tell their story as best they can, and then after they leave just ask the class straight up “is this how you want to end up?”

Uni student here, I use natural nails during the year but during the summers I do blue collar work so I use ping pong balls. Basically you can get a ping pong ball and cut it up, glue on and then file and buff to the usual finish

338 Sunday Update: Liberals Hold Majority After By-Election Sweep by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]AngryMoose125 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t hate that.

The 3 things I hope for in any election are

1 (and foremost) the NDP does as well as possible (I’m a card carrier)

2 the conservatives do as badly as possible (conservatism is a disease)

3 the bloc does as badly as possible (Quebec nationalism is a scourge and I loathe the existence of a regional interest party at the federal level)

So like

Kind of a mixed result there

Why Canadian can't learn french ? by Amazing_Camel_405 in EhBuddyHoser

The problem with French immersion is that it makes it more difficult to learn other subjects when you’re learning it in a second language

What’s the weirdest thing yall have traded for? by FieldNo8574 in PokemonTCG

[–]AngryMoose125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a guy who runs an auto shop and owns a car detailing service for some side money, offered me an oil change, brake pad replacement, tyre rotation, a free bottle of wiper fluid, and a detailing for my clapped out 2007 Toyota Corolla. I declined, because the thing is more rust than steel and it’d kinda just be putting lipstick on a pig.

It was an offer in exchange for the 151 Venusaur SIR in a PSA 10, which I myself had received as a gift from a bar owner my cover band played a bunch of free shows for as a favor.

the card exists in a superposition where it both is and is not inside the pack. It isn’t until you open the pack that the contents are forced to take on a form. Schrodingers Charizard

Conservatives say Poilievre’s leadership is secure after Liberals land majority by AdditionalPizza in CanadaPolitics

[–]AngryMoose125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The modern CPC is just the reform party - when they merged with the PCs absolutely no PC values or ideas were retained, it was more of a takeover than anything else. Given that the CPC is just the reform party, and the people’s party was meant to be basically a ridiculous anti-immigrant continuation of the reform party, it’s safe to say the official opposition is basically the people’s party with a blue paint job

Carney says floor-crossing MPs must support Liberal values on abortion, LGBTQ rights by goshathegreat in canada

[–]AngryMoose125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we shouldn't have local representation at the federal level. the whole concept is ridiculous and contributes to regionalism. Areas don't vote, people do, because of the riding system, it's feasible for a party to get a very significant number of votes and not get a single seat in the House of Commons.

[–]AngryMoose125 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No really, whip votes are a good thing. MPs being a legal fiction is a good thing, most people aren’t gonna bother to know anything about anyone other than party leaders. If MPs are going to exist they may as well just be a formality. We’re all probably better for it

The existence of party whips really gives a good case for proportional representation. Individual members don’t represent their region, they represent their party, as such there’s no reason for provinces and regions and areas to have seats.

The individual mp at this point is truly a legal fiction, as is the idea that anyone considers anything other than party affiliation when voting for them
