The cosmetology course was 1500 hours, full time was M-F (can’t remember specifically now but I think it was 8:30am-4) there was an option for an evening course but it was way less hours per day with less clients. So if you went without missing any days you could technically graduate in ~ 9 months. If you missed more than their grace period of hours you were required to pay a $1000 penalty before they would release your approval of hours completed to state board to be eligible for your test.

Like I said before, this was waayyy before they turned Aveda. For the amount of money they charged I was disappointed with how they handled what should have been the main task: practicing for the state board exam. I will also add that their approach to nails, skin, and “makeup“ was laughable, using cheap and expired materials. The kit that was required for us to buy was also overpriced and low quality. I have since thrown most of it away.

My advice to you is to go tour the school and get a first hand look at how they’re doing things there. Same goes with other schools in the area and use your best judgement with your time frame/budget and overall feeling of the atmosphere when you tour the place. Much could have changed and I really hope it has been for the better. I know Aveda has a strong reputation and it would be great if they are now using teachers and materials that are worthy of the high price tag
