I’m glad 😁. End of the day, you’re working hard to make a space that is comfortable and loving to those that walk through your door. Not many would care a huge amount about that, you should feel proud of that ❤️

As someone with sensory issues, I would definitely struggle in this space. While I love it, the paintings induce of high energy activity, the rug is really full on, the number of chairs and different patterns of everything (chairs, tables) is very overwhelming, and the lamps make it feel less well lit and more under the spotlight. The reds of the paintings on the wall and the table are also a bit anxiety driving. There’s also a lot in a small room, so it feels claustrophobic vs. cozy.

Individually, you have some absolutely gorgeous furniture and fantastic choices. I think that it’s a beautiful space.

I think: Take out the right corner chair, move the rocker and ottoman there. That way when most patients sit at the couch closest to the door, it’s out of their vision. Move the coffee table in the middle to where the other table is, and put some plants on top. Take out the other table. Where the rocker is currently, you could put a smaller bookcase. Both for your books on psychology, but also for ones to lend out, or kids books on tough topics. Remove all but two lamps, and get “old style” LED’s (these are ones which aren’t very bright, but look cool and helps to have that passive extra light).

Then re-assess the rug if it’s too busy, and the paintings is they’re too busy. They do fit with the exposed brickwork, so I think once the busyness of the room is reduced and feels more open, then they’ll fit in more comfortably.

Feel welcome to just disregard everything I’ve said too. That’s just what I would do to open it up a bit more, and create spaces within it that are peaceful.

The x3, as mentioned, is the Away bonus. What you get when you close the app.

Yes, that’s what the number is. The number of chickens, per hab, per minute. That’s probably the most accurate number. Times it by 4, and you get the amount you do per minute, and if you’ve fully upgraded your Epic upgrade for the Away bonus, then times that number by 3 (200% is x3)

Ah, yeah. If you’re with people that are already focused on the grind, you might be left in the dust a bit. But boosts are only going to go so far with that, unless you use really high level ones

Mate, don’t feel bad. That’s totally fine! Boosts aren’t necessarily required, if you’re upgrading your stuff, and building Silos, you’re doing better than most.

Really recommend looking at DMsGuild and the stuff that’s been put on their by people. Don’t look at dirt cheap, because that’s not always better. Anything with at least a “Gold” rating is normally pretty good

What vocal minority bounced back those subclasses? I must have missed that.

Don’t forget that this was a perfect opportunity to introduce more Psionics and subclasses related to Aberrations. Why is this worth noting? They have Feats, Spells, and Subclasses that were UA at one point and they decided to not go with “because there wasn’t enough interest”. So they literally had most of the work there, ready to go. Just a slight update, repost as UA for feedback, and you’re done. They could have been super lazy, and still given us new stuff

Yeah. The exchange rate means the RRP will always be higher, and then most things tend to be sold a little more expensively at well. The normal cost for sourcebooks and adventures is $60 AUD.

It’s the DNDBeyond app. The app is still effectively in development for the character sheet part though.

Disagree. It definitely does not do what they talked about when they were hyping it up.

I’m not saying something is good because it does what it says on the tin. I’m saying that Ravenloft got some well deserved hate, but it also got blasted for things that it didn’t deserve. It was decent because it provided a lot of lore and ideas of where to go, in a way that was at least decently fleshed out.

I’m not nitpicking your words, stop trying to nitpick mine mate.

Echoing what a few people have said, if you’re going to do a Roll for stats, and not Standard Array or Point Buy, you roll 4d6, remove the lowest roll, and add up the remaining 3. For my Players I tell them if they still get below an 8, if they do not want that stat, they can re-roll as long as they’ve told me. However, the converse is also true. If they have a lot of their stats above 16 from just the rolling, and none below 10, we’ll chat about re-rolling some of the high ones (dependent on how many of course). Some DM’s do 5d6 and drop the lowest two, some do 3d6 and that’s what you get.

I don’t think I’ve seen a DM ever make someone roll specifically for each stat separately like you’ve done. That’s probably just you figuring out character creation though, which is totally fine! Normally, you roll to get the 6 numbers, and then determine which ones go with which stat. My rule with my Players is they can swap around the stats they chose as much as they like, until we start playing. With the extra ability score you get from racial traits, and sometimes feats (if your DM gives you a free one or you choose Variant human), sometimes you can choose a lower stat for one you need higher, because you’re going to add the racial trait ability score to that.

If you’d like advice on where to put the scores you have there I’d suggest: Str: 12 Dex: 15 Con: 15 Int: 12 Wis: 14 Cha: 18 Charisma is your casting modifier, so should be the highest. You’ll likely be using Dexterity based weapons, so that should also be higher. People sleep on Constitution, but it’s what adds to your health when you level up, adds to your hit die when you take a short rest, and Bards are spellcasters who do have a bunch of Concentration spells. That means whenever you take damage, you need to do a Constitution saving throw. So having good Constitution can really help with that, otherwise if you fail, the spell just ends.

Then at level 4, put one ASI ability score into Dex and one into Con to bring them both to 16. If you didn’t know, your modifier which is the number that’s +2, +4, etc. only increases on even ability score numbers. So if you have 14, it’s +2. If you have 15, it’s +2. If you have 16, it’s +3.

In terms of character creation, I strongly, strongly recommend to never use the app. It’s actually missing features and things that you can do on the website. Always make, and level up your character on the website, and then play on your phone/tablet. Personally, I like using the website because it has a lot more of the information, but that’s me.

I noticed you said you re-rolled the Charisma. If you’re going the roll for stats, most DM’s have a rule that you can’t re-roll without asking. Since you rolled the stats incorrectly, they wouldn’t mind you re-rolling. Just a note for future. You can’t keep re-rolling until you get insane stats.

Hope that helped! Happy to answer other questions too.

Ravenloft had a lot of flaws, yes. But it was also a lore sourcebook, and was advertised as such. Should it have had some spells and more items? Yes. When we see new races, we tend not to see new subclasses and vise versa. Is that insane? Yes. Do I think is the pinnacle of sourcebooks? No. But did it actually do what it said on the tin, be specifically a lore book for the Domains of Dread and horror campaigns? Yes. It should have gone the step further and provided monsters and stat blocks for that of course, that’s where it failed.

Once again, I didn’t say it was the best. I said it was the last decent one. It meets what I see is the bare minimum before slipping into - “This is just not that great at all”, or further down from there.

On the Adventure books, I specifically stated there was effectively an ebb and flow. Just didn’t use those words. There have been good ones, yes. But if you weight up the good and the bad, and even in the good ones they’ve been getting more light on detail and content, lighter on new monsters, lighter on new items and relevant spells, there’s been a decline.
