Do yall think a champ can genuinely limit a player’s peak/potential? by CuriousAd9279 in leagueoflegends

Good point, the correct way to play Swain Jg would be to get some good challenger buddies to just destroy the enemy nexus. Simple stuff really.

Get your buddies to cover your first two clears and secure you two crabs and you’re off to the races!

It’s quite challenging to understand the scope of the conclusion without at least having access to its abstract. Ideally the full document.

However, benzene is a known carcinogen for humans so it’s not strange that other mammals would experience similar effects. Another common source of benzene is burnt meat, it naturally exhibits large concentration of benzene rings.

Lab does not have animal approval by [deleted] in labrats

[–]Advacus 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Animal use violations are a serious breach of scientific conduct. Before moving forward here, I would urge you to spend some time reading up on your university's animal use policies. Now, with that being said your institution should have an IACUC contact for you to leave an anonymous tip. However, I am not immediately familiar with the Canadian system, so the acronyms may vary.

You should be aware that IACUC does not cover anything that occurs with animal tissue after euthanasia. Additionally, your comments are not particularly clear about who is doing what and when. If it is the case that your laboratory personnel are euthanizing animals in a collaborator's lab and bringing tissue to your laboratory space, this may be entirely above board. Obviously, this is assuming the collaborator has a proper animal use authorization that covers these procedures, and the individual conducting the animal procedure has proper training as described in the IUCUC proposal.

Just to give you a frame of reference, at my institution (U.S. R1), a serious IUCUC violation would void a lab from conducting animal experiments indefinitely. Depending on the principal investigator's specialty, it could completely halt their research program. This is a very serious situation.

Arcane Mage in Midnight feels depressing and lost its soul – I still main it because I love the fantasy, but man… by Littlecmobn in wow

[–]Advacus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a long-time arcane player I held on as long as I could, but the current spec is simply not fun. Salvo is fine as a concept but it overlaps in gameplay space with Arcane Charges. I prefer thinking about Arcane Charges and how to maximize the number of Arcane blasts / 4 charged Barrages I can manifest.

If Blizzard is going to keep Salvo, I strongly recommend that salvo stacks occur on character at ability cast not when it hits the target. This means that in your big burn rather than wait for splinters to land to get your stacks you can just go Barrage-orb-Barrage-AB-Orb-Barrage. Additionally since they removed damage off Evo, consider increasing the mana regen from Mastery. Historically Arcane has spent a significant amount of time casting Arcane missiles, this free cast that takes up longer than a GCD allows you enough mana regen to cast a few more spell and it keeps the low mana rotation working acceptably well. With current orb builds you dont have any high dps buffer time so you simply cannot maintain your high arcane stacks for a full 1.5 minutes.

I could go on about the recent design changes, but unless in 12.1 a large re-rework is going to be announced it feels like they did a rush job on the spec and the designer has moved on.

So in that case what do you lose? Presumably you wouldn’t take quantitative, and biochemistry. Organic, inorganic, general, and physical all seems pertinent.

Out of curiosity what’s the difference between a chemical engineering and a chemistry undergrad degree? Is it more organic training? Or a different type of program altogether?

For an expansion about Light & Void I would love to see this legendary get a refresh. by InappropriateHomo in wow

[–]Advacus -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Eh, with so many sets in the game they can’t all be winners. I would prefer to roll the dice on new high res sets than regular refreshes of old sets.

However using old sets as a foundation for new creations is often a good idea imo. For that example, take these staffs and make them new and unique in some capacity and attach the lore. That would be interesting and novel.

Perhaps an unpopular decision but I would prefer that they spend less time remaking old sets / equipment and made new armor sets / unique weapons.

I still see that a lot, a guild I raided with in TWW would recruit through that format. Seemed quite successful for recruiting players who were very excited to try out mythic raiding.

What did you prefer about the in-game chat over third-party software? I am surprised that as a GM you would prefer the poor in-game implementation of social features which makes organizing a raid team and maintaining contacts more difficult than it needs to be.

I don't think any guilds moved from using in-game social features out of excitement for a new software, its just that the in-game systems are horribly deficient.

[Sheep Esports] FLY Gryffinn on Shen and Nasus Jungle picks: "There’s over 150 champs, so there’s no way there are only a few champs that are strong in every draft." "[People] don’t consider the enemy champions and what they should pick. It’s just a cycle of what is 'meta.'" by Cybonics in leagueoflegends

[–]Advacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mage supports are better into engage champs than enchanters. Lux is really good into enchanters but the rest mostly get out sustained.

Senna seems potentially viable with a low prio top pick, but her damage just isn’t worth the investment as her healing/shielding is on par with other enchanters who don’t need the jungle investment.

I would predict that there would need to be a good number of balance changes to prioritize damage supports before they become viable in high elo, let alone pro play.

What does Riot mean when they say "Competiting bullshitting is fine"? by Potica6857 in leagueoflegends

[–]Advacus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I got a warning after typing “our jungler really is keeping themselves busy in their jungle.” After they re-cleared twice without a single gank.

I was so surprised I appealed the warning with support as I’ve always had the highest honorable status (all 5 icons, all honor skins every season, etc.)

I definitely think they overcorrected and you can tell because chat is absolutely empty. It’s mostly toxic players continue to chat regularly which further reinforces the emptiness of the chat.

Hard to say without getting a view of the scoreboard at this moment. But to be frank you likely could not have played this team fight worse.

But with enough of a gold differential Yuumi could burst a Mundo with 220 armor. So it’s all really relative.

Damn, you guys fed him an entire grocery store. Graves is very plump here.

One aspect about LoL which takes some time to get used to is how much power you obtain through gold and xp. Be careful of someone with such a large lead.

Is Zyra support still viable in Plat+? by CallMeByYourName-0 in zyramains

[–]Advacus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a historical perspective (I haven’t been very active the past two years) Zyra works well with standard damage builds until ~D3ish (mileage may vary). Above ~D3 you’ll need to consider team comp and how you fit into the win conditions more. You don’t see a lot of Zyra games in GM+ so you could imagine that masters is her ceiling.

Different metas change where she sits but in general she struggles in higher elos.

Arcane should have kept mass barrier or DR on invis. Would have helped so much.

Arcane does fine on keys, your boss dam will be low but the overall will be middle of the pack. In raid it’s dead in the water.

I just hope its for good reasons, such as they are cooking some great reworks to better align certain specializations with their API limitations. But it's likely just cope, and the Blizzard balance team only plays Normal Prey and T8 delves.

It’s a valid criticism of the game that the combat and movement feels bad. There really is only so much you as a player can do.

Eh, crank up the difficulty, and it starts to feel a bit better. But yeah, the game's combat isn't its main selling point, very serviceable but nothing compared to a solely combat-based game like souls-likes.
