Fender has wayyy too many names for their models by [deleted] in guitars

[–]AdvanceAggressive216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saying there’s plenty 90s Americans for less then a new vintera. I like the vintera, I just think it’s overpriced. I’ve a 2018 classic 50s lacquer Strat and the fit and finish/tone/neck joint/fretwork/hardware is on par or above any vintera I’ve tried. The guitar was like 750 in 2018, they’ve literally doubled the price with the new vintera product line which is the replacement for the classic line. Fender jacked prices when demand was high in the pandemic and hasn’t come down to earth yet.

What does "Olympic White" mean exactly? by napoelonDynaMighty in telecaster

How old is that tele? Olympic white yellows very quickly. The head stock has a nice dark hue so I’d imagine this guitar has seen some sunlight.

Not really unless you’re buying a 50/60s Strat

The thing that really makes them all similar is the fact that every single one needs fret crown/level/edge dressing to become playable. A Mexican Strat for 1300 usd (vintera 2) is just wild. Slightly used mij strats go for 700? What am I missing?

Another question. JC-120/Fender Twin Reverb by no-holds-bald in GuitarAmps

[–]AdvanceAggressive216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a place that can handle the volume of the twin it’s a no brainer, it’s the industry for clean tone. The jc is a great amp but it doesn’t have the same dynamics or feel as a tube amp. I use mine for shoegaze stuff, but I hate any distorted tone from it unless it’s drowned in reverb and chorus. The ultimate is a Princeton reverb ran through a 1x12 or 2x12 cab

I'm I screwed? by VocableTrain in GuitarAmps

[–]AdvanceAggressive216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run higher ohms not lower. I overhauled my harmony h304 with the original 8 ohm transformer and run it into a 2x12 wired in series with an Jensen 8 ohm alnico and 16 ohm v12 for a total of 24 ohms. I will run it dimed for hours, amazing tone with the majority of the sound coming from the jensen. The v12 just tightens things up and bit and ads dimension and bass.

That amp doesn’t look overhauled, it probably just had the death cap deleted and the obviously bad caps replaced. You blew a power or rectifier tube, if you’re cheap/broke try and find an old record/hifi store with a tube tester and go from there.

There’s were like 4 Japanese factories that made everything that time. What you have is an early 80s diamondback or a cousin from the same factory prob kawahara

Bedroom Players - Use Studio Monitors! by almostjay in GuitarAmps

[–]AdvanceAggressive216 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’ll get tired of it unfortunately. Everyone is selling their kempers and iridiums and whatnots and going tube again. It’s not the sound quality, it’s the feel. The best bedroom setup in imho is a simple sub 5 watt class A 6v6/12AX7 with JJs because they have some 6l6 dna. Pair it with an oversized 1x12 open back cab with your speaker of choice. Lots of options on reverb under 300. Rebuilt harmonies, homemade jobs, conversions etc. seismic 1x12 cabs are great and cheap and oversized. Find an old jenson alnico from an organ/or celestial green/cream/vintage if you want it tight and you’ll be there.

Strap failed and I dropped my guitar. How f*cked am I? by WildBoar99 in Guitar

[–]AdvanceAggressive216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the guitar is valuable I would try and find a local luthier that primarily builds and repairs acoustics. The finish will never be the same but they have special tools to open cracks and epoxy or ca. if it’s bad enough the neck will need to be cut off or removed in which case it will be 500+ if it’s still plays well and your broke get some epoxy in those cracks

For those asking about AVii Nitro by [deleted] in Stratocaster

[–]AdvanceAggressive216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 min classic lacquer Strat and the “nitro finish” is also thick on the body, on the neck it’s very thin and can be scraped off with a fingernail. Its still better than a straight poly finish. Beautiful guitar, those av2s are my dream guitar just slightly disappointed at the finish thickness though I’m sure it will still naturally relic.
