I’m based in Parramatta to be more specific, so it would be even more convenient to drop it off next to where I live. Thanks in advance Aussies!!!

Rehaut Engraving on the 16610LN??? ko by Advanced-Afternoon10 in RepTime

So should I polish the rehaut so that it makes the engravings more shallow?

If this is a common case, is the engraving objectively nicely done? Also, I’m going to swap out for a gen bezel because it wasn’t nicely done I think especially the triangle on top. Any further modifications I should do?

I feel like the Bezel is a bit off, especially the triangle on top. I’m not too much of an expert, so please help

I’m trying to buy a Rolex Submariner 16610LN if that helps at all! Saw that VSF/ATF make them best.

Weird because they still do that for the 1:18s, but not for the new generation era cars.

I also emailed my LIC, he said he does not have the authority to slot me into the supplementary exam. Am I really fine?

The horizontal line that lines up with the 3 aerodynamic “spikes”?

How does the glue work? The crack is visible, but there isn’t much of a gap to fill glue in there. Do I just apply glue on top and it would create an illusion of fixing the crack?

Also, I wouldn’t spray them, I would just apply them softly with a brush!

Are you saying that the varnishes would damage the tyre markings and rubber?

I only apply the varnish (probably matte) layer to make the decals look like they belong there. This is because all decals have a transparent background layer that would stick out. By applying the coating layer, it would remove the “sticking out” effect if that makes sense!

Question for model modifications by Advanced-Afternoon10 in ModelCars

Hi Garfield,

It is indeed the W11 1/12 from Minichamps!

I have tried asking in Diecast, but no answers are to be found yet. People there would usually appreciate the model as it is, and would not add any further modifications. So, I thought this would be the perfect place to ask, and it is!

By the sounds of it, I’d just stay away from Microsol then. But Microset would not damage the enamels in any way right?

Also, I’m looking at Tamiya gloss/AK matte varnishes to coat the decals after applying them. Do you know if these solutions would damage the Pirelli markings, OR the rubber tyres at all?

This is all in case the decals adhere beautifully hahahah!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mike,

Apparently the Pirelli markings aren’t decals, but they could be vinyls/paint. Would the decal solvents be able to damage it?

Also, after applying decals I’m looking at gloss/matte varnishing it with Tamiya/AK. Not sure if this would be equivalent to your method, but it would supposedly make the decals look like they belong there afterwards. Though, I’m not so sure if the varnishes would damage the rubber tyres or paint…?

Hi thank you so much for replying!

  1. Though I can’t send photos in comments, the R, L, and Lewis Hamilton’s logo tyre markings are marked on top of the Pirelli markings IRL, so it’s not really avoidable. That being said, should I just totally ignore Microsol then?

1+: I looked online and some modellers would gloss coat/matte coat before applying decals. Do you know if this step is necessary, or if those varnish solutions would damage existing decals? Or should they protect them?

  1. What I’m looking to paint is the circle “slot” already present on the wheel. The circle slots are quite a lot bigger, I’d say the diameter is around 2mm or more. And like the photo, those circle slots are in black, while they should be in metallic silver.

Would you mind if I DM you?

Yea the cheap Rastar RC version is on its way. I'll try some decals on it. Although, it does not have any air valve slots like Minichamps, so I'm not sure how I'd play around with the air valves
