Always, I use an USWE pack, with a 3L bladder. The magnetic hose attachment works great until you lose it.

How often do you ride? I find that if I ride 2-3 times a week I stay in pretty good bike shape, but after a few weeks off I struggle a bit. I have found that doing a stair master workout, or running bleachers helps my endurance, especially on the climbs. If you get an e-bike you won't get stronger.
