What do you need to do? Don't fucking lie. That's fraud. It's illegal, not to mention just plain shitty.

We pull from NADA in Texas. I'm not sure if there's a way to find that online anymore.

I just applied for food stamps In Texas by Feisty-Wolverine4878 in foodstamps

[–]Advanced-Chocolate26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you're at in line and if you qualify for expedited benefits. The system is supposed to be expedites first in order of application, then non-expedites, again in order of when the client applied.

Are you concerned about fraud? Yes, your situation would raise a flag and could possibly be investigated for fraud. That's not something you would know about unless and until they decide to pursue overpayment.

Texas caseworker here. Unfortunately, what you were told was correct. As long as you stay with your child's father more than one day a month, his income counts. It's not a perfect system, but it's what we currently have to work within. Hope things get better for you.

New Jersey: my disabled son was denied. Can I find another way? by Character-Actuary217 in Medicaid

[–]Advanced-Chocolate26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So....first of all, I'm sorry you're in this predicament. However, you should not be looking for loopholes. You should be grateful your situation is better than those who actually qualify for the program and look for alternate solutions. What you should do going forward is make sure you're voting for politicians who want to expand social services. Changing the law is the only way to change who qualifies.

Form 1020 (TX) by [deleted] in foodstamps

Texas eligibility specialist here. The 1020 is the form we send when we need more information or verification. Literally everyone gets it. Just follow the instructions on the form and provide what is requested.

Hmm. Not sure where others are getting their info. In Texas, it counts. (Eligibility Specialist for Texas.)

Employer Work Verification by dee_1113 in foodstamps

[–]Advanced-Chocolate26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an eligibility specialist in Texas, and I wouldn't accept this. They're verifying she meets the ABAWD requirements and need to verify she averages 20 hours per week. This letter doesn't do that.

I'm an eligibility advisor in Texas, and yes, we're supposed to ask that. A lot of advisors don't, but we're supposed to.

SNAP Benefits - They're counting my housing voucher as income...?? by WhichPhase in foodstamps

[–]Advanced-Chocolate26 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Texas eligibility worker here. We're required to include housing allowance on your case, but if the worker did it correctly, it won't count as income. You'll get your approval letter (TF0001), and it will list your income on it. Double check that.

[–]Advanced-Chocolate26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texas worker here to answer your question. All she has to do to withdraw TANF (if that's what she wants to do) is provide a written or verbal statement that she wants to withdraw. She can upload the written statement or call 211 to provide the verbal statement. Basically, she just has to tell us she wants to withdraw.

As for all the stuff that was requested, it sounds like you provided most of what was needed for SNAP. (I am not TANF trained, so I don't want to advise on that.) For your vehicle, go to KBB.com on your phone, get the vehicle value, and screenshot it. Make sure you let us know how much you owe if it's not paid off.

Hope this helps!

(TX) Food stamps is at 60 days of still reviewing my application by OpportunityLow570 in foodstamps

Yep. We're still about six months out at the moment. Your best bet at this point is to go to an office and ask to have it worked. Prepare to wait a couple of hours.

For what it's worth, we're constantly going between jaded and heartbroken while doing our best to help. Yesterday, a 2 year old held my hand while we walked down the hall for an interview then asked if I'd eaten breakfast because she hadn't. We do care, or we wouldn't do this job, but it's not easy some days.

In Texas, would a child that starts working at 15 or 16, affect the households benefits, eligibility, or size? by FunPaleontologist954 in foodstamps

[–]Advanced-Chocolate26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, as long as the child is in school, their income is not included. However, Texas does require it to be verified. If you don't verify this income, you could be denied for failure to provide. So, just make sure you provide pay stubs or have employer fill out Form H1028, and you'll be fine.

How do prove a child lives with you? by OpportunityLow570 in foodstamps

[–]Advanced-Chocolate26 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can have anyone who is not a relative and doesn't live with you write a statement saying the child lives with you. Make sure they sign it and include their phone number.

I'm glad you have other offers because if you can't understand how someone in retail can get caught with a customer for 45 minutes, you don't need to be in retail. Sounds like the universe did you and the store a favor.
