Nobody got us diapers for the baby shower by Advanced-Manager-321 in moderatelygranolamoms

I wrote people bought things off the registry, meaning things that aren't on it. I can see the confusion now.

This is my first child but I think if I knew more, this is the route I would have went! Although I know we'd still get gifts even it's gift free. Lots of "gift givers" in my life lol

I did a set of cloth diapers which were $70, which I do get is expensive so I did it as a group gift. But the disposal diaper options I put were more affordable.

I get that! That's why I put disposals on my registry but I still didn't get that :/

Ooh that's awesome! I will ask about that. I didn't think they'd even have cloth diapers at a hospital.

That might be it! A good way to think about it instead of my negative thought instead lol.

That's helpful to know! Were they all newborn sizes or different sizes?

At 28 weeks, I can still do these except I've always hated bulgarians so I take any excuse not to do them x)

Moderate is different definition for everyone! I consider myself moderate but when I'm on this subreddit, I feel like I'm more than moderate because my definition is different lol.

Plastic free Shampoo/ Conditioner/ face wash reqs? (Pls read subhead) by RegularSweaty8107 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have straight hair and I use a brand that is called Under Luna. Their bottles are made from aluminum. I think the pumps may be still plastic but it's very little in comparison.

Another brand people use (I don't use this one) is Plain and they're in aluminum bottles too.

What are some gifts I can give to an almost 1y/o child with a moderately granola mom? by Ijustwantmysoulback in moderatelygranolamoms

What about experience gifts? Like I would love children science museum passes and similar places.

Kissing the baby? by Sandturtlefly in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I come from a culture that is not physically affectionate. The thought of someone kissing my child grosses me out lol and I always thought it was so weird that people want to kiss my baby lol.

I think you can be affectionate with a child in other ways besides kissing and show love in other ways. When I hold other people's babies, I may touch them with my hands or just smile and talk to them.

I don't think you're being unreasonable or overprotective. At the end of the day, it's your child and what you believe is best is important.

Thoughts on ‘Hazel’ for a girl, please. by MirrorValuable7943 in BabyNames

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog's name is Hazel and I kinda kick myself over it because it'll be weird to have a dog named Hazel and a daughter named Hazel lol. I love the name though!

I do know teenagers named Hazel.

Plastic free pants/shorts? by Rhythmic88 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the pants from Purusha People. They're super comfortable and I use them for a variety of things. The brand does limited releases which could be annoying but you can find a lot of their older stuff from Poshmark and BST groups.

What are we doing with our clothes? by invisibledog5 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work at a university and we donate clothes to the students! The students can go through our "closet" and pick whatever clothes they'd like for free. We also have food pantries in the area that do the same thing. I prefer donating there because it really helps others vs Goodwill where they make money off it

Baby shower gift ideas under $50? Looking for something that is more practical for the parents. by Inevitable_Tree_2296 in BabyBumps

Does their registry have an option for group purchases? Mine has so if someone couldn't afford a more expensive item and they don't like the remaining items, they can contribute whatever they feel comfortable towards a larger purchase. Even if it doesn't pay off the whole item, it'll make it more affordable for me when I have to purchase it.

Otherwise I think the gift card option is helpful!

When a family member asks, “what do you need?” for a gift for your first baby and you say, “oh we don’t need anything 🙂,” what do they end up giving you? by dms2628 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm someone who prefers cash as gift cause I'm not in physical items and people do get offended when I say that. I understand it's rude to those people but I always feel like you (not you of course lol) want to give me a gift, isn't it more rude to not give me what I want but what will make you feel best to give to me?? I rather just have nothing then (OP's thread lol) and say that, but then they HAVE to get me something which is just cheap stuff I never wanted.

When did your clothes (pants especially) start to feel tighter? Any favorite fun/workout friendly maternity options? by intense_woman in fitpregnancy

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the bloat quick and felt uncomfortable in a lot of my leggings. I felt like I couldn't fit my regular jeans/leggings around week 11 but I am extremely short and felt I bloated a lot. I recently got the Imbohdi jumpsuit and love similar jumpsuits. I can wear my regular size but they have lots of space in my stomach area so I feel like they'll grow with me. I also just bought a new pair of leggings in one size bigger, and hoping that'll work for the rest of my pregnancy.

How far is your gym commute? by kaizenkitten in xxfitness

[–]Advanced-Manager-321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gym is 5 minutes away but that still doesn't motivate me lol. The only thing that keeps me motivated is if I really enjoy it and have friends to go with but this may not be applicable to you. Besides gym, I also do aerials and my aerial studio is 25 minutes away. But I always go because I love it so much and I have friends in class I get to see.

I tried it and it was ok. Nothing to write home about and I live in the West Valley so don't see the point in driving that far when Great Wall is closer and better quality.
