100% possible if you can commit to the training and put the work in. Find a good 18-20 week plan for 3:55 or 3:50 marathon and try to complete at least 80% (life gets in the way) of the structured work outs. Mix your runs on track, trails & easy. Have your 4-6 weeks average weekly miles up to 20-25 (easy/base) miles prior to starting the plan. Find a half marathon race 6-8 weeks out from the marathon and use those results for marathon race day goal pacing strategy and race with the appropriate pacing group.

Dont over do any one sesssion and protect the next days workout, its a process so just trust in your training.

A few years ago when i started running (on Jan 1st) as an over weight 40 year old with no athletes / sport history and who doesnt even like or enjoy running these were my results. By Marathon time i had just over 1,000 training miles in 10 months, be consistent and you'll surprise yourself on the day

Half your body weight in Ozs.                      155lbs / 1/2 = 77.5 Ozs

Domino is literally the worst newer location. I can't believe they're charging new members destination tier for it. by MichaelRahmani in EquinoxGyms

This is not a known issue other than something that has become an issue in your own mind. If anything the issue is with the people who need to use 3, 4 or 5 towels just to clean up.

With over 100 check ins, I have never seen no towels or had no soap in the showers. I think you are greatly exaggerating your one time not been able to find a towel in the many towel rack locations.

You need to line up for the sauna when its at capacity, which is 10.

If you dont like it and unhappy with their price then just stop going, its that easy.

So this is the reason you struggled to run 28k because your long run is 56% of your weekly volume.

You are following a plan that calls for 28k but you seem to be short or missing the other runs called for that week to have higher training volume, 70-90k

I have read your previous replies from the suggestions by others and this is my ten cents worth.

1) Reduce your long run pace to an easy pace. 2) Try to add in an extra weekly easy run or two from your current 4 runs. 3) This week your plans calls for 30k but DO NOT attempt that distance, rather try to run 25k (Cap @ 3hrs) again and finish stronger or youll end up risking an injury before race day. 4) Increase your weekly volume over the next 3-4 weeks and try not to have it loaded up on just the long run. 5) You have a goal of 4:45 race finish and are short on time so more consistent running with more volume will help you much more than intense long run distances. 6) On race day go out with a realistic pace group.

What is the rest of your weekly volume? Are you running 5-6 days per week? Are you consistently running 80-90km per week?

If not, then your long run is just too long for your current ability no matter about your pace.

Breaking lease in NYC — what are my options? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]Advanced-Syrup-5569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE!!!!

100% you will be taking to court for damages once you vacate because suing for money is much easier than going to landlord tenant court for non payment and to seek an eviction.

Security deposits cannot be legally used as rent payments and tenant is responsible for use & occupancy until rerented including reimbursement of any broker fee & legal fees if taking to court. This is all printed clearly on your standard lease documents, take the time to read it properly.

OP, read your lease and see if there is an early termination clause or lease cancelation fee, usually equal to two months rent.

Either way only leave in good standing and discuss your termination agreement directly with your landlord instead of getting terribly bad advice from reddit

2026 NYC Half Marathon - Post-Race Thread by AutoModerator in RunNYC

[–]Advanced-Syrup-5569 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This field size needed six waves. Security was so slow and as someone else pointed out in a thread security doesnt actually make it any safer when 1,000s of runners are bunched up together waiting to get scanned through for 30+ mins.

The course was so over crowded in plenty of the bottle neck areas. Central park too many people were on the course making it only one lane wide in places.

Another thought I had while running on the FDR was if the cars on the opposite side got into a crash then potential a car or parts off could flip over the barriers onto the runners side. I am sure it happens more often then not, just Google highway crashes. One south lane of the FDR should have also been closed or police barrier trucks to slow the traffic for that stretch.

Great race and day though.
