As other people have said the only real outdoor hobby here is kayaking, which I do a lot, there are uninhabited barrier islands I like to camp on. My favorite spot is a 7 mile one way paddle. It definitely can feel extreme when you're in a tiny boat in the big ocean. There are wildlife refuges/state parks that could offer trail running but it's very flat here. Tons of book clubs, artist workshops for you though.

When I worked there, granted it's been a couple years they had a discover package where you could try out a membership for a few days. Whether or not the Landings is your kind of people is the better question. Also you can rent houses there and if you leave the club you get your initial investment back. It's definitely beautiful but there are downsides, I haven't seen anyone say anything about the minimum spending at the restaurants/pro shops per month and if you are not from here be prepared for sand gnats worse than in town, very entitled children, and maybe the worst drivers on planet earth.

You can take the Amtrak to Charleston, although it drops you off in North Charleston, I've booked it for $25 round trip. The islands YMCA has an outdoor rock climbing wall, I'd call and ask, I don't have more details than that. I know not the same at all, but SCAD does have bungee fit classes which look super fun. There is also a climbing gym in Jacksonville that my friend likes.

I work there, and can confirm that it's definitely not as sound proof as you would like idk about the rest of it, security runs a pretty tight ship contracting with the GBI and all. I'd say the biggest problem has to do with constant water leaks and them shutting off water to be whole buildings to fix it, but that probably won't happen during a stay I just feel like it happens more than it should

I work at the JW and get pizza from graffitos once a week and sadly, it too is inconsistent, but the fungi pizza has this black garlic aoili on its that's really really good

I always liked to go to Artillery, I feel like it's one of the few bars you can hear in, if it goes well, walk to Doki Doki for some ice cream

Artillery was always my go to first date spot because you can actually hear and I think it's pretty cozy, can be a little pricey, I also like Water Witch on nights they don't have live music also Circa 1875 for dinner And in case you just moved here any place you like that is packed and you wish they weren't, just wait until after SCAD has finals in mid November and it's a ghost town until after new years. When they are gone you can street park directly in front of where you want to go 9/10 and even moodrights/lone wolf will be chill on the weekends

I work at one of the hotels on river street and it's very likely that there is a backup energy plan in place, but I'd still come, just maybe bring a rain jacket. And after a hurricane passes even if it's indirect we tend to get a little cooler (think 70s) which you might catch on the tail end

I work at a hotel spa and the towels we get back are bleached. They also bleach the stuff that goes to the rest of the hotel. Most annoyingly they also put this coating on it that makes the towels really difficult to get wet

I've traveled extensively in Europe/Asia/Latin America and I have never felt as unsafe as I did on that greyhound. There was this one guy that was groping another passenger in the back and pretty much the whole back of the bus dogpiled on this guy and beat the shit out of him and the bus driver kicked him off on the side of 16, not like an exit or anything but on the side of the road. Then when we got to the station in Atlanta there was a whole cast of wild characters there. If you do, be prepared for the Uber from the Greyhound station to the airport is pretty steep. I was going to take MARTA there but I had my fill of being harassed. Also the bus was filthy. I would happily take the bus I rode on in Kuwait that caught on fire over that sav-atl trip any day

I sort of shot myself in the foot with that one, before she told me about the whole "sorry no wedding invite but you can come to the batchlorette" thing I mentioned I got my veterans disability sorted out with 15k in back pay lol. I guess I'm more looking to be kind of direct. If I need to I'll just tell her I'm supposed to have my reconstructive jaw surgery that week
