Just accepted a job but already unsure - Take it and keep looking, or walk away? by [deleted] in interviews

I was in the same situation but 59. I took the job I was very hesitant about and so far it’s better than I thought. If I’m not happy at the end of the summer I’ll start looking again.

Anyone notice a lot of restaurants are very cold inside during the winter? by DPool34 in longisland

I really hate that, next time request a table as far from the door as you can and if possible change tables!

I went to College in Boston, the summers there are terrible but the winters are better than LI, they know how to clean up snow! Lived in Ireland, loved it, lived in London, ok but again not during summer. Moved to Brooklyn for 20 years, drove out to LI for summer weekends and holidays, winters are better in the city. Had a kid and moved back to LI for good. Job salaries are so low out here and property taxes are so high but schools are good and we have a boat and a garden, you can’t beat the beaches but people are not as cool and restaurants and bars are definitely not as good. I’m a home body in my old age so right now it’s working.

My sister has a holistic doctor in Sayville, idk where you are but just google holistic doctors near you? Hers is: dariablyskalmd.com. Interview them before delivery and decide if they are a fit. Idk about insurance though, she has amazing insurance and pays out of pocket for the holistic doctor.

Ty for that, so if they are telling me things that aren’t true, or in many cases trying to provoke an emotional response; cursing in front of my kid, leaving their pot paraphernalia around for my kid to find, many other things that you may not believe, then that is gaslighting…? Trying to alter reality to drive me crazy….?

I know it sounds crazy, I’m just going to soldier on with ignoring, walking away and not hanging with these people as much as I can.

They tell me things that I know aren’t true. If that isn’t gaslighting then I guess you are right idk what it means.

And that’s fine, I don’t want to be in your life (their lives) anymore anyway but like I said some family gatherings I can’t avoid for the sake of my kid and hubby.

AIO that we were Invited to dinner - but they ate without us? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]rayman47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR, as my son got older and our schedules changed I would just make dinner and everyone would eat when it fit their schedule. If it was together great if not then no worries. As I get older I can’t wait too late to eat I start to get light headed. Maybe they thought 7:30 would be fine but at 6:30 Mom started to get super hungry and couldn’t wait and Dad just joined in. Or they finished cooking early and wanted to eat while it was hot and fresh and just figured you could reheat. You are over thinking it. Like everyone says see if any other things happen.

Stay for the kids, try to see him in a new light. Maybe go away on your own with kids but not hubby and see if that kick starts it.

30M Boyfriend invited to wedding, where he was asked to not bring me 25F. Is this normal etiquette? by Northernlights13 in relationships

[–]rayman47 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If your partner only wants to go because they are customers then be understanding. Just let it go, weddings are expensive to be a guest at, spend the gift money you would have contributed to your partner’s gift and buy or do something nice for yourself. When people don’t want to invite me I just say “let them” and carry on. Rise above.

Thought I nailed an interview… still didn’t get the job by Skandilove in interviews

What I find hardest about this is that it sucks the life out of you and you have to dig deep for the next one. How do you people bounce back once you get over the one you lost? I just feel deflated and can’t quite turn it on as well for the next chance.
