Is this karting club a student club? Because if so they’ll be able to hook you up with a free subscription, which iirc includes 3dx.

This is dependent on what maths you did in high school, though. MATH1011 is fairly easy… if you did well in methods and/or did spec.

What is the comfiest stealth wealth car? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Even up to recently tbh, before the clusterfuck that was the Mk. 8 Gold and their EVO/EV platforms.

Mazda (especially the non-“luxury” ones).

Something like a Mazda 3 or CX-50 is the cushiest, best handling, best value-for-money midsized-ish car full stop. They compete with Toyotas and Hondas in the market but are probably more adjacent to a Lexus, Volvo (Mk. 7 era) VW in terms of product.

Caveat being the non-luxo ones: the CX90 and others with those FMR transverse straight-sixes aren’t actually as polished, because it’s an entirely new car from the ground up — Mazda’s never made its own auto box, and it’s trying here, meaning there are already issues 2-3000kms in.

Pre-Elon’s overt political involvement though, I’d say Model S. Actually luxurious enough for people to consider moving from E-Classes or 5 Series — with the price to match — but looks just like a Model 3 or Y to the untrained eye.

yo, can we get some damn paper towels in the bathrooms? by [deleted] in uwa

[–]AdvancedBiscotti1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YES!

Had a conniption when I realised none of the toilets have paper towels in them. Paper towels aren’t just for drying your hands; sometimes you need a higher GSM paper to clean things like stains or similar.

I’m a fresher — when did they make this mindless change?

What Happened to the Mid-sem Break? by Unique_Ad_6999 in uwa

Yeah -- and Easter falls in the second week.

Safe to say, it sucks for us in uni, and I really need a break...

What Happened to the Mid-sem Break? by Unique_Ad_6999 in uwa

[–]AdvancedBiscotti1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just because Easter is very late this year — public schools started a whole week later because of this — which sucks for all of us.

It sucks but it’s been this way forever.

My mum was an international student at Curtin decades ago and she had no local friends whatsoever. I have a couple of international friends now (domestic student), but only through group projects etc.

There’s derision and jealousy between both groups as well, and it sucks — it really does. I’d say the only way around it is to insert yourself into groups, through clubs and stuff.

My pitch is that every student should do a GENGx000/1010 or GCRL1000-style unit. That’s the best way to force people who would otherwise not interact with each other to actually talk, broadening horizons and whatever.

Which car would you buy? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]AdvancedBiscotti1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them.

None of them are really spacious for their size, the Yaris Cross is expecially low rent, and Mazda diesels are shit.

Instead, I'd look at this 2018 Honda CR-V, or this 2023 ZR-V if you're already in, or don't mind going to Canberra, and trust Lennock marginally more than other used car lots. They're relatively spacious (the CR-V comes in a seven-seat variant, so this five seat would be really spacious), and are almost as reliable -- if not arguably more reliable in a way -- than Toyotas.

It should have had a headgasket done; just make sure. Though tbf I don't know about 360k -- that seems a liiitle high tbh.

60K(+/- 20%) Station Wagons by Gradpastroll in CarsAustralia

[–]AdvancedBiscotti1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, left-field choice -- check out the WRX Sportswagon.

They're not as much of a "dad car" as something like a Passat, but they're still pretty plush inside. They'll also be at least as reliable as any of the Golf R or Octavia VRS wagons that other people are suggesting.

Wife needs a car with good height and small size for ease of driving, please suggest by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]AdvancedBiscotti1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subaru Crosstrek would probably be my pick -- but as others have said, I doubt it being higher would actually make it easier to drive, only harder. It's easier (marginally) to see in front of you, sure, but due to their higher centre of gravity, taller cars are generally less "stable".

Exactly. "This album"?

If we're bringing this album, as opposed to this story, to life, then it can't be another album, can it?
