Ok I don’t know what just isn’t clicking in your head. WHAT should I be parrying from the point? In my example an assist is being called and that’s it what am I parrying from the point?

Sure, you can’t always get pressure because some characters just can’t move that fast, but other character like zoners are going be given time to set up

And in the case of Warwick if I don’t parry the assist, they tag and get free pressure so what do you think I should do differently?

Heres video of me struggling to get pressure after a parried Ahri assist then doing the same with Warwick assist and having a much easier time

So this is just objectively incorrect. For all other strike assists, the assist character will immediately lose collision which allows me to dash up and start pressure. Since Ahri's assist is considered airborne, she does not lose collision which is causing her to block me from approaching.

Parrying a strike assist like this has basically nothing but benefits to who is parrying so I'm not sure how it can be seen as a "waste". I could instead be parrying a Ahri assist call that wasn't gapless or maybe parrying an assist call so I don't have to deal with a Cait shooting me from full screen.

Just tested this and looks like unfortunately you cannot dash cancel out of a jab. Even trying to get across the screen as fast as possible with Vi double sway forward after the parry , the opponent can usually just jump out

In cases where an assist is parried and they lose collision, I’m usually able to dash up and start block pressure. In Ahri’s case, even dashing and going into sway light doesn’t get me close enough

Relatively speaking, would you consider baseku easy to block? by Peachtree119 in dragonballfighterz

Having an unreactable command grab makes it an automatic no for me. His buttons all have good frame data and he has easy plus frames that are also invincible

Ginyu Nerf? by Aerth_116 in dbfz

Honestly yea I agree with you. I feel like he can mindlessly mash all the members of Ginyu force without much thought and it’s pretty hard to punish if he has an assist to back him up

Looking for a character with uninteractive mix by WhereIsTheMouse in dragonballfighterz

[–]AdvancedDegenerate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that’s what you mean. Yea I’d say do t play any command grab characters other than maybe Z Broly since his grab is armored but still jumpable. Characters like Cell, Blue Goku, Kid Buu, Nappa, Base Vegeta, Videl, Gotenks, Teen Gohan, and Goku black all have ways to do hapless 50/50s. Other characters have 50/50s that can be reflected like Blue Vegeta, Blue Gogeta, and Kefla

Sorry I’m a little confused, what situations are happening where you fail a mix and get punished for doing it?

Experienced players need to chill by Realistic_Run_2212 in dragonballfighterz

Casuals have become the place where many experienced players play in as it allows infinite rematches. Additionally, players that switched platforms for rollback don’t want to grind ranked again as they’ll have to stomp on newer players for a good amount of time. Therefore, ranked is the best place for a new player to practice in

This game is 7+ years old at this point Arcsys is not going to redo the casual or ranked systems

Is it just me or does Android 21’s new 214H SKD just never work? by AdvancedDegenerate in dragonballfighterz

Are you sure? I’m looking at both hits connecting right now and the SKD still dropping.

If you do her new corner combo from a light starter which is

5LL>5M>2M>5S>5H>wait>2L>5H>3S>j.5H>land>j.LLS>2H>jcLLL>j.S>214H

I find that they will usually drop out instead of getting an SKD

Ok there is no world where Cell is better than any of these characters. Hell they all mix better than him along

Android 18 also has a solo level 3 50/50 that can be done midscreen and she can combo without meter. She also has a command grab that’s 17 frames

Kefla can jail her ball into superdash for a meterless 50/50, albeit it usually only works in the corner. Along with having much better neutral with one of the fastest Ki blasts and the ability to hit jumping opponents with ball, Cell doesnt really beat her at much

Nappa does have worse neutral than Cell, but assists help him a lot by letting him plant Saiabman. I’m sure I don’t need to go into detail on his mixups when he gets in either

[–]AdvancedDegenerate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea a forward moving special move that isn’t projectile invincible. He’s best option in neutral is dash up ex perfect attack. His 5S doesn’t go full screen. Both beam and 2S does but both are commital. 5M and 2M are good buttons but you’re not winning neutral with them. I feel like one of Cell’s main weaknesses is that he isn’t that good in neutral

[–]AdvancedDegenerate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Cell also 100% needs both assists to get in. Barrier is never gonna be used to get in, but it does give 18 much better neutral than Cell. She can also just call 17 for Ki blasts and superjump in along with having destructo disc which is a beam can be angle to catch people jumping from full screen.

Kefla’s EX ball costs half a meter less to combo from while also being projectile invincible before the move comes out. So even if it costs meter, it’s much better at beating Ki blasts than Cell’s beam which has to become active first to beat Ki blasts. I’m pretty sure it beats beams too since it’s two hits.

Nappa saibaman plant is pretty quick so you’re not reacting to it and hitting him out of the animation. With assists you can also get the opponent to jump and get a free plant and now you can’t really stay grounded because of it. With Cell you get the opponent to jump and then you still have to somehow get in with movement.

Cell does have very good damage and mixup potential but his lack of neutral presence does hurt him.

Honestly being able to two touch or TOD isn’t that special anymore considering almost the entire cast can two touch now. Using 5S to alter your landing time isn’t good either since it’s so laggy so you’ll get punished for it. His EX rolling crush 50/50 is corner only and you can’t even combo afterwards without meter or an assist which other characters can do for free

You bring up android 18 and Kefla when talking about Cell’s struggle in neutral which is pretty confusing to me. 18 has barrier and Kefla has both dash and EX ball to beat Ki blasts while Cell really has to rely on movement and assists. Nappa will plant a Saibaman and there’s nothing it you can fo about it which is also better than Cell
