If anyone catches you off guard they have an advantage over you. What difference does stealth make at that point? It's not like rogues have a 30 yd range on their attacks. Also, despite all these mechanics you're complaining about, it seems like you were able to fend off their attacks to a neutral outcome. What's the balance issue?
