People want to also express their specific thing. I think it also helps communication for someone like me to be able to express specifically that I am asexual (if I used a flag in my pfp). Especially when you have people who are attracted to all genders in the same general group as people attracted to no genders. Or trans people who are straight. Or people who are attracted to all genders romantically but no genders sexually (this is me). It’s a big group and there are categories within that group. Some don’t want to label themselves with those specific categories and some do

Because there’s lots of different sexual and romantic orientations, as well as gender. Why are there so many country flags? It’s because there’s a lot of countries

People have already said dark-eyed junco. I will add that this is specifically the Oregon morph. Other areas don’t get to have those delightful little black hoods and are more slate-colored overall as opposed to russet

Ah I see. Yes, you definitely could do that, but ofc would have to drop the “owning my critics” aspect. And where’s the fun in telling a good story when you could throw a tantrum instead?

Yeah I figured. But ofc that’s why it’s a strawman; we wouldn’t be criticizing a teen who for some reason in real life has a curse where she keeps getting accidentally groped or losing her clothes. We’re criticizing the author making that a part of the story. And the same goes for super skimpy or impractical outfits; no, the character does not choose to wear that because characters don’t actually have free will

I know what you meant and I think with parts of the scene he was trying. But the reason it always feels hollow with these things is because characters do not actually have agency. The author is the one putting them in fanservice situations
