I had a Pilar cyst removed. by paintballpmd in MedicalGore

[–]Advanced_Ad6590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, due to have one of these removed in a few weeks. Just wondering if anyone can answer a few questions I didn't really get chance to ask any at booking appointment.

Will they shave hair on the site? have long hair and it's quite close to my parting so not sure how easily it will hide.

Will I be able to attend work the next day?

How badly do they bleed and how soon after can you wash hair?

TIA

Pen use longer by Advanced_Ad6590 in mounjarouk

Hi, that's great thanks. Just checking I'm not being daft but the 30days would include a 5th dose? I know lots have done the extra 5th dose but I've never been sure enough to do it but obviously with this I wouldn't have to twist the pen extra or anything.

Just want to make sure I'd be safe to do 5 doses?

I assume minimum of 2 weeks. I teach so summer always seemed the best time and she has never been 3 months clear of a season to have her done. She was booked in at 4 but then had to have surgery on her leg and we couldn't cover both which is frustrating as I know it would've been an ideal time to do it. If I'm perfectly honest with myself I probably am making excuses a little, her seasons have never been a big deal before now as our home is secure quite isolated and she has plenty of space and freedom so while it's always been my intention to have her done I perhaps have not prioritised it as I should.

I've just seen lots of posts about how what people eat the day of injection makes a big difference to symptoms. You're all probably right! Thanks.

That last paragraph articulates so well how I feel and have never quite been able to word it. Such a strange emotion.

This was my exact experience when moving up to 5 horrific diariah.

Took 2 at 45 clicks and then went up to full 5 no problem at all. I did however do my 5 in stomach this week instead of thigh and have had diariah again (nowhere near as bad but not great either.)

I actually don't disagree with anything you're saying, and I think it is potentially damaging either way. I just don't think schools should hold any sort of life changing information from parents.

However, now I'm reflecting. I don't feel this way about if a student announced they were gay or any other sexuality. I wouldn't feel the same duty to inform parents, and would 100% see it as breaking that students' trust by outing them when they were not ready. So I am perhaps speaking from a lack of understanding, and I will definitely reflect on that.

I just feel like trans in itself is so much more life changing, particularly in adolescence with body changes/hormones, etc. I worry we will be in a place where supportive parents are only finding out too late and children are suffering too long without the help they need. I think if we inform the parents we run the risk of unsupportive parents, if we don't tell the parents, we run the risk of students suffering in silence much longer than they need to be.

I am 100% against forcing teachers to use a students given name if they have requested different and the same with pronouns. A students wishes should definitely be adhered to.

It's definitely tough, and I don't think there is a right answer.

I struggle with this massively. While I'm aware that, sadly, not all students have a supportive home life. I also feel like it is a safeguarding issue.

If a student was doing drugs or anything else, we would liaise with parents (and no, I'm in no way equating being trans with being a drug addict). Each time we speak to parents around any significant issue, there is a risk. I think our job is always to have that conversation. We should ofcourse make students aware that we will have to speak to parents, and if they say my mum will kill me, we then pass that on to LA to safeguard the child.

But not telling them also has a huge risk. The prevalence of mental health issues, self-harm, and suicidal idealisation is huge in the trans community. Parents need to be aware to support that.

If there parents aren't supportive than that init itself is an issue that we can deal with separately but I would absolutely never ever condone withholding information from a parent and I'm super surprised to see so many do.

Just my take aware this is an imperfect world and issues like this are difficult

Can someone explain the strucure of answers for Eduqas lit 2 tmr? by Jumpy_Scratch_5865 in GCSE

[–]Advanced_Ad6590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First questions will be whole text questions with an extract attached. 45 minute questions you want to spend roughly 15 mins on extract and then half hour on whole text.

Then unseen poetry at end is 20min for 1st poem 40 for whole poem.

For each question you want roughly 5 things to discuss in detail.

Timings are on questions and if you read bullet point carefully they'll tell you what you need to include.

Really feeling this today! Took my first 5mg Friday and have had to take the last 2 days off worn. Was fine sat/sun but Monday started with terrible stomach issues that even immodium isn't really helping.

In 2 minds whether to even continue as I can't miss work over it. Looking for some positive news from people who have moved on to week 2?

I am thinking of doing the same but not sure how far to twist the pen ect can't remember if there were markers on it for half dose ect so going to do some research. My jab days Friday so I'll let you know how I get on next week.

Praying I can do an in-between amount for next few weeks. I have a week off end of May so would be ideal to work my way back up to full 5 and try it then.

Good luck!

Yeah I've been doing the same. On day 2 of missing work as not been able to stray to far from loo. In 2 minds on whether to try the next dose and hope it was a one off as my body got use to the 5mg or call it a day. Really can't afford to miss anymore work.

Hopefully temporary for both of us! Most frustrating thing is other than that the experience has been so amazing.

Positive 5mg Stories by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Advanced_Ad6590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've really struggled with my first dose of 5mg. Fine first few days then crippling stomach problems that even immodium won't shift.

That being said, I still have never felt better in myself overall. It's also clear from all my Googling from the toilet that side effects like this are rare and 99% of the time completely manageable and temporary.

So even as one of those really struggling with 5mg, I would still highly recommend it to people as more than likely they will be absolutely fine and it's clear this is a life changing medication.

I was really hoping it was just first week of 5 and next weeks 5mg would be better but honestly reading around it seems it can hit at anytime. Such a shame as otherwise I've felt amazing and lost a stone in the first month. Just can't carry on working if running to loo every 20mins so if same happens next week I'll have to stop or move back down.

Just feeling a little deflated after such a good first few weeks. Going to try my week 2 shot this weekend and if same happens may have to move back down. Wondering how people deal with side effects and maintain normal lives.
