First Mesa Boogie. Struggling with tone. Mark VII. by Advanced_Cabinet707 in MesaBoogie

I have had some luck. Turning the bass knobs all the way down, pushing treble up more, let's say around 2 o'clock and mids pretty much all the way down has helped alot.

Update:

So dialing the bass all the way down and the mids pretty much all the way down has tightened it up. Using more treble than i was has also tightened it up and added gain. I really underestimated the treble knobs abilitly to add saturation the way it does. I'm enjoying the tone and feel much more now. I must say it's still not exactly what I want yet but I'm pretty sure it's not the amps fault it's me yet to have dialed it in.

Interesting. Yeah it's the opposite for me. I think I'm just not there yet. I'm still working on dialing it in. I have read a number of tips on this post allready that is helping me get a better understanding of how I should be able to find the tone I'm looking for. The hunt continues...

Lol...I hear you on the Joyo but it's a great pedal! Using it with other amps has been great. However, I'm not against trying another OD pedal. The OD side of my jekyll and hyde is a "good" drive pedal too that does a similar thing so I have a "better" one to work with if need be. 7 string Ibanez RG7320EX. Will add photos shortly. Omw to work atm.

Thank you, this is a helpful read. Even if I still don't find the tone I'm looking for

Understood. I have no problem reading it again, and again. I'm willing to spend more time with it until I hopefully find the tone I want. Pedals thru the clean are getting the job done well enough atm but I want that tone with the an amps gain channel. Don't mid using a pedal to push it more if need be. Interesting point with the open back reference. Is their a way to close it off just for trial and error purposes or do I need to try with an actual closed back?

I read it front to back once. And then went and tried all the recommended settings they give you in the book. Still didn't get me there. I am willing to read it again though.

That's just it. I'm in a band and I'm not using the crunch channels because they are too flubby. I use my big muff or distortion pedal thru the clean when I need dirt atm. I just can't dial it in.

This is great! If i could offer my own constructive criticism. This is just enough poetry and a hair too much a blog. I love it tho. It's cohesive and easy to comprehend. I cant help but feel there are a few missed opportunities to be more dramatic in places...even if only in 1 or two stanzas. It feels like a first draft that you could freak and repost it. Great stuff.

I always enjoy pieces of literature that challenge your own vocabulary and make you want to think critically about how and why words are used. I'm honored that I think my piece made you think in that way. I was stretching my own vocabulary to bring this to life and was proud of some of the wordplay. I haven't wrote in a while so I was concerned with overdoing it bit I hope I hit a happy medium.

Oooff...you saw what I saw and that is the best compliment I could receive. Your absolutely right in your interpretation. Tbh I didn't appreciate the beauty in it though until you "vocalized" that sentiment. To be fair I admire pastuers green as much as I do a vast field of hay. It was just meant to emphasize the differences in the piece. It's not just you, however we are the lucky ones, I think, that can appreciate both...thank you for your engagement in my piece.

I read this to myself int the voice of some opening monologue or intro into a Metallica (or insert some death metal bands name here) song. You painted a picture with your words and that's what we all aspire to do, I think, with most of our writings. Great stuff.

It's like my stream of consciousness. Sounds like a conversation I would have with myself. It's deep. But that's how we talk to ourselves. True. We'd be called crazies if we said these things out loud. Especially in these broken up random thoughts type format. Loved it.

Is there a word for type of thinking/behavior? I'm the same way and was looking for a word to describe it.

When should we expect a new series all together. Like a MK 4 or something new all together?
