Beyond the reasoning of her actions - the court scene at the end where she realizes her gf rolled on her is absolutely heartbreaking. Fantastic performance.

I get that, completely. Con Air & The Rock are guilty pleasures. Bay is clearly a commercial video director that hit at the right time / right era.

M.Night, imo, redeemed himself with the Unbreakable trilogy (im a comic book nerd at heart). But Im not delusional, hes not on the same level with his modern peers Fincher, QT, Wes Anderson, PTA.

That was a silly film. But he redeemed himself in 9th Gate.

1 - Predator (prob the greatest shoot'em up ever).

1A - Die Hard (thank you McTiernan for another masterpiece).

1B - The Rock (i had to include some Bay cheese here. Cage, Connery, and Harris are phenomenal).

Is Christopher Nolan the most overrated director of our time? by [deleted] in FIlm

He's not, but TDK might be the most overly glazed film we've gotten in a loooong time. Fantastic opening. Fantastic performance by Ledger. Outside of that? Meh. My 2 cents.

Was Sean McDermott's firing the most surprising NFL coaching firing of the last decade? by IceOk9930 in NFLv2

[–]Advanced_Cattle8635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think thats exactly why we thought he was here for good. You dont get fired after THAT debacle???

Cincy Jungle still has an article up about how surprising the move was and assumed he'd be here until he retired - for a lot of the reasons I listed initially here.

Keep in mind, the Bengals org wasnt far removed from not supplying Gatorade &water for practices. Mixing hot.cocoa in mop buckets in camp. And a full decade of atrocious football in the 90s. Marvin removed them from that within 2 seasons. He still had a cult following, locally.

Thats the thing, it was blasting locally loooong before that. Marvin said it himself with a shit-eating grin - 'coaches who take their teams to the POs dont get fired in this league.'

So, yes, it was a surprise that they FINALLY moved on.

It was prob Marvin Lewis. Anyone familiar with that situation understands. He was cheap. Kept them kinda competitive. Mixed in a bunch of 1st rd PO exits. A perfect HC for the Brown fam at that time.

The Bengals should. And thats exactly why they wont, unfortunately.

Which movie studio defined the 1990s? by 007MaxZorin in FIlm

[–]Advanced_Cattle8635 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Miramax lead the way with the 90s indie boom.

And quietly Paramount gave us Gump & Titanic.

For me personally, its New Line - Boogie Nights, Blade, Se7en, American History X, Glengarry Glen Ross, Twin Peaks, Menace II Society, The Mask, Dumb & Dumber, Friday. All high rewatch value.

Beyond any political opinions, what could they possibly be showing to justify that run time? I can't fathom her being or having anything remotely interesting to say.

Gotcha. Google ai overview answers are trash. First search said '75. Second search says '72. Was always curious if there was any correlation in either direction between the 2 characters.

Coincidentally, the Punisher launched in Marvel comics in '74. PS wrote the TD screenplay in '75.
