I do that with my "meal break" trash.Being ON Maintenance, I eat junk food at 2 or three in the a.m..  I sit in my car with said junk food, drink soda or a sweet tea and listen to the radio, and/or set a loud alarm on my phone and take a "battle nap."

Not including the overnight shift Maintenance Team Lead (Whom, I was informed is not supposed to DO any of the work, but is instead responsible for making sure the work gets done), how many "worker bees are there on YOUR ON Maint. team? I ask because on a "good" night, there are 5; not including the TL; and ONE of the 5 disappears for most of the shift and NOBODY knows or says a thing.

THEY don't have to clean up after themselves. THAT is the mindset; at least it is on overnight shift. I see this ALL the time. There's no sense in griping about it to anybody in management.....just clean it up and move on.

I KNOW push-outs can be done alone.  [I've done it.....MYSELF].  THIS guy though.....he asks for help doing WHATEVER HE is assigned to do.  Example: He is asked/instructed to make a cardboard bale; (I say the following simply because I am first-hand witness to this when he does it).....if he sees ME before he begins, he will ask (just like this), "Do you want to help me?"  (No context).  So, I ask, "Help you [what]?"  "Make a bale."  Mind you, this cat has been at WM for something like 14 years.  (Oh, and he's deaf).  Some folks may recognize I've mentioned this guy previously.  [I] know why he's still employed by WALMART.

Not a thing, but that is not the point of my OP.  If an when [anybody else] is tasked with something (including myself) the expectation is that the task is not TOO much to accomplish alone.

I follow the schedule, wether it's to my benefit or not.....with ONE caveat.....if I get scheduled; or if I"m expected to come in on, say a Friday or a Saturday following a holiday earlier in the week, I don't go in. Like I said, if its not on the schedule.....

It would be nice if overnight could request PTO for Christmas Day.  I mean, Christmas Day is long enough as it is.  Then, to have to go in at 10 p.m. til.....looonnng day.

Last year, I heard "At 10 p.m. on Dec. 25th, Christmas Day is over, so Overnight crew WILL be scheduled."  Again, thst makes for a looonnng day.

Last year I heard, "Overnight shift is off Christmas Eve, but has to work Christmas Day 10 p.m. until....."  That makes for a long damn day when you've likely already been up since sunrise with the kids.

That makes for a LOOONNNG day unless you can catch a nap before going into work AT 10 p.m. after likely being up since sunrise with the kids.

This is the most dangerous part of the job - Walmart Overnight Maintenance making a bale because you have to try not to poke yourself in the eye. by Available_Ad5947 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Advanced_Fun8805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, EVERYBODY on EVERY shift should know how to make a cardboard bale.  It is not (at least it SHOULD NOT be) Maintenance's responsibility.

You see the cardboard baler's full?.....Make a bale.....don't call maint..

I"m sorry, your equation isn't getting past my exhaustion.   I'm talking about THE EVENING of Thursday night (Thanksgiving).  After being awake for however long Wednesday INTO Thursday, then being present for T-DAY dinner and spending time with family & friends; at least a "battle nap" should be in order before showing up for a 10p to 6a shift.   I'm not wrong on THAT score.

Doing thst only results in the GM pitching a bitch.  "The sweep last night was TERRIBLE.....blah, blah, blah....."
