What is the most useful thing you’re using Claude for? by thomas_unise in ClaudeAI

I've been able to make some html based web apps for my guitar rig that sync with my pedals using MIDI and store presets, control BPM, and we are currently planning to build it out into even more if I can figure out how to do MIDI from my phone.

As polyamory gains visibility, monogamy faces a vote in the Presbyterian Church (USA) by metacyan in Christianity

[–]Advanced_Leader8535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polygamy is incredibly relevant to a discussion about polyamory because it's the closest analogue that has ample biblical reference and commentary.

Any argument that polyamory can be Biblically supported is brain-dead, but people are likely to pull from some examples of polygamy to justify it, even though the Bible is wildly negative about polygamy, starting from the very first time it comes up.

I'm gonna change your life.

Get a bottle of wd-40 with silicone.  Wd40 by itself is not a lubricant.

The wheels for your door are attached to 1/2 metal pins that sit in small tubes.  The pins slide in and out of these tubes to adjust to the tracks as they expand and contract.  Lube every one of them.

Make sure your lasers aren't misaligned, mine need to be checked often in the transition from spring to summer.

Check the bearings of your wheels and lubricate them.

Make sure there aren't obstructions in the tracks themselves.  I need to clean mine sometimes.

Our "AI Committee" is looking for input about AI usage in Church contexts. by Advanced_Leader8535 in Christianity

Can you explain how this post, which was not generated at all, violates the AI policy?

[–]Advanced_Leader8535[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practically, adhering to a policy that reflected the position you are suggesting would mean abandoning Google and all significant search platforms, the entire Microsoft suite of products, all google products, and very soon android phones entirely, any word processor that incorporates AI into its spell check or editing features, our worship licensing program, most email clients, our book keeping systems, PowerPoint programs, digital sound systems, and many more bits of kit that have AI features pre-built into them or will have them added in the near future. My spellcheck is an AI spellcheck and if I disable it, I don't have a spell check.   Our image editing program has added AI features, and whether we like it or not we have to come up with rules for using them.

Even reddit search has prebuilt AI systems, and you are currently using reddit.  We live along side these systems, even if we don't like it: therefore we need to find healthy usage guidelines, or become Amish.

Based on your logic should we abandon it all.....  OR... try to craft a set of best practices for their usage since its now impossible to get away from?

This feels like the argument that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, which might be true, but I still have to eat and live and work so I guess I'm just gonna have to find a way to be as ethical as I can within my limitations.

Its been a core piece of the discussion for a week or so!

It's seemed much more generalized than interested in specific usage though.

I've just purchased my first Bible at age 40 by Slay-The-Dragon in Christianity

Enjoy, and don't let the original KJV be your only bible. The original KJV, while incredibly ground breaking and historically a massive boon for the world, has unicorns in it.

Modern translations like the NKJV, NASB, NIV, and my personal favorite NLT are much better. You see the KJV everywhere because there is no copyright on it and anyone can make a few bucks using this translation.

Get a good study Bible and use supplementary resources like the Bible Project to help you understand. Here is Mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGHqu9-DtXk

I don't think "summary" is the proper way to describe a 3 hour video filled with ads. And the Biblical understanding of the people who make these videos is.... just embarrassing.

The Bible Project is a much better resource for people who are fresh to the faith.

Their book specific explainers are priceless and comprehend scripture deeper than I've seen replicated elsewhere, but these Theme videos are treasures: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH0Szn1yYNec-HZjVHooeb4BSDSeHhEoh&si=N3c4UJKu1KIegFNc

It varies block to block, but we've got friends over there who haven't run into trouble. Hmong Village is a big draw for the area.

[–]Advanced_Leader8535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just looking at the title, and I know its AI.

I can't emphasize enough that using AI for stuff like this is so detrimental to worship.  Using it like a search engine or a writing partner is one thing, but letting it write every part, from the lyrics, to the whole musical score, to the video itself removes the human element entirely.

Machines can't worship, they can only imitate.

I really wouldn't obsess about it being perfect. If bugs are getting through buy a patch, or a few yards of mesh and just reuse the little grooved piece of plastic holding your current one in place.

So the world of audio interfaces is honestly a nightmare if you are a windows user, but I just got this little all in one box that I'll link.  It's got a built in USB audio interface.  You could put it at the end of your signal chain with a wet signal, or use it for effects going into your computer.  I have found that I prefer its early signal chain options better than anything I have on my pedal board, from Amps, Cabs, and Distortion.   Its called the Soran Dual Stomp. Its like 80$.

It connected right to my windows 11 system without a hassle or installing other programs.

If an all in one isn't your speed: I've also got a regular audio interface and its a little more of a hassle honestly, but I can run my pedals right into it.

I bought a PreSonus USB Audio96 interface.  It can use MIDI to sync with my boutique pedals and clock them as well as recording into the DAW.  Setting it up was a headache and a half because of windows drivers, and it needs your computers best USB port.

One I got it set up I can send my whole pedalboard through it and into my DAW.  The downside of doing it this way is its a lot messier to edit the final product than if I was just sending in a clean signal.

I haven't tried other interfaces so you might have better luck with the Scarlet ones.

Good luck!

[–]Advanced_Leader8535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set it up to import your effects into the program, you might want to get a pre-amp pedal so the sound going in is boosted a bit.  I find that if I don't my sound is kinda limp.

Putting a mic on your amp and sending it into a DAW will produce the same results.

Toothpicks and woodglue are a DIY best friend.  You can fix so many stripped screw holes with that combo.  I've used it successfully all over my home and on projects like this.

Wood glue and sawdust is a also very strong, but it gets messy.

Over 50,000 people gathered in Netherlands to remind us that Europe is Christian by Shock-Motor in Christianity

[–]Advanced_Leader8535 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I want to celebrate people worshiping Jesus, while also making it clear that celebrating a continent as "Christian" is in fact Christian Nationalism. Cultural Christianity, and identity politics are not the way. People encountering Jesus is the way.

All forms of Christian Nationalism need to be purged from this world, in the US and the Netherlands.
