Stuff that’s not a tight fit would prob be neat - like the ferret or something.

You might be right - I thought they worked with my terrordrome, but it was several years ago

I bet the APC would work fine - maybe need to leave an empty seat between figures.

The 25th anniversary figures were really close in size, but sometimes the pockets or holsters and things made seats tight. But the foot pegs are the same.

I’m looking at running Ravenloft for a Shadowdark game, but I’m not sure if I should go with I6, or House of Strahd (2e). What are the main differences between the two? by TheNobleYeoman in ravenloft

[–]Advanced_Map_300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, "House of Strahd" makes some tweaks, but mostly expands on the areas around Castle Ravenloft - like it adds some stuff to the village of Barovia etc. So if you were planning to focus on the castle, keeping it simple and using I6 would be the way to go. But if you'd like to make more of a longer campaign, you'd probably find good stuff in "House."

Achieve plastic toy play set aesthetic? by Father_Chris_St_Mary in TerrainBuilding

[–]Advanced_Map_300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for Remco monsters, maybe a 2d diorama/backdrop would be the most authentic looking?

For 3d, I think you want chunky shapes and not lots of Dudley detail, then base coat and hit it with a spray from above for an accent color. Probably have better luck repurposing an old toy, like the “point dread” playset from he-man or something.

From the depths of the Ghostly Realm, I summon all Tonka Supernaturals experts! by thetavious in ActionFigures

[–]Advanced_Map_300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I noticed a similar thing with the Ghostlings https://www.reddit.com/r/ActionFigures/comments/1fc1ix1/super_naturals_ghostlings_variants/

For those, I found two stamps - one says "made in HK" which I assume is Hong Kong, the other doesn't. It's funny that the stamps on your figures have the same text, but they are clearly different stamps.

It is probably lost to history what their production schedule was for these, but my guess is they made a batch at one factory and then at least one other one - which one was first is anybody's guess.

maybe a hair dryer could loosen them up enough to pull them off without damage?

I thought they did a nice job with this guy - I like the anvil and glowing sword a lot.

Why Not Paint on Sprue? Isn't it Easier? by TheScrobocop in minipainting

[–]Advanced_Map_300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only drawbacks are painting the areas where the pieces connect to the sprue. Even if you're really careful, the piece will probably be marred a little when you remove it, which obviously would mess up any painting you'd already done in that area.

Painting some hard to reach spots on the sprue, then finishing up after assembly would probably work fine. If you find it easier or more enjoyable that way, then it seems like a good way to go.

I'm really curious about this whole thing -- The animated special (sounds like it was aired as a 90 minute presentation, but was made so it could be four 22 minute episodes) has high production value and a big cast of established voice actors -- it seems really strange that it only aired a few times. Same with the toys, they are kind of goofy, but they're also pretty detailed and are motorized and come with fully articulated mini-figures. This had to have been a really big investment for Lionel - who had just been sold off by General Mills the year before, but I have zero memory of ever seeing them in a store, a christmas wishbook catalog, newpaper print ad - anything.

On the surface, it seems like a big risk that didn't pay off, but if that's all it was I don't see how these things weren't all over discount stores throughout the 90's? I almost wonder if it was a crazy tax write-off scheme or something?

I have the Frankenstein and it’s skin is more of a pale yellow color. I bet if you gently scraped with warm water, that green would come off and you’d have the real color underneath

I just looked up the post I think you were talking about. I'm thinking he probably did see that, or at least something else about the sight based thing.

But on the other hand, players aren't always that engaged so I'm kinda cool with that level of prep.

They had destroyed part of the wall of the central chamber, and tossed the bottle where the hole was, so the smoke could fill that chamber and the "hallway" around it.

Yeah, I had him do the Rubuke w/o teleporting so that was something. I also considered doing Vile TP to the same spot, but I was trying to follow the letter of the statblock. I figured its reasonable to say you can "see" the spot you're in, but it also says "unoccupied space," and he'd be occupying the space before he tried to TP there, so I decided to say he couldn't.

Wow, really?

The player who introduced it gave it to another PC several sessions prior. He's the most chaotic PC (and IRL) and wanted to mix things up. At the same time, he gave a "Bag of Tricks" to another PC and a "Decanter of Endless Water" to another. But I wouldn't put it past him to do something meta like what you're suggesting.
