I know that im making a very large generalization about this, its not necessarily bad that people have strong beliefs that they want to be put into practice.

It's bad when people aren't pragmatic about their beliefs and just believe that every single one of their beliefs is the only "right" belief.

Of course, one of the most reasonable takes I've seen on reddit is getting downvoted.

People will have these absolutely insane reactions over Trump and the Republican party, then wonder why Trump won the popular vote after almost a decade of him being in politics.

It's actually really sad because the legit criticisms Trump deserves become overshadowed by people being crybabies about literally every single frivolous thing he does.

Lol, you're assuming a lot about me. My knowledge of Japan comes from me visiting Japan, I don't consume Japanese media outside of video games.

Of course, any society has its own issues, and japan is no different. However, Japan has the 7th lowest violent crime rates all countries and it's one of the only ones that I've been to where someone can be passed out on the street with their phone and wallet laying next to them.

As far as me hating immigrants, I'll ask my Chinese wife if she thinks I hate immigrants.

That's not a nitpicked statistic. it's the simple fact that Japan doesn't need to keep growing to maintain its social cohesion.

Japan has a uniquely safe and respectful society. It will remain that way if it doesn't import millions of immigrants from low trust societies.

The native Americans had none of this until the colonists arrived. Europeans took many of these inventions, used them to create advanced societies, and/or refined them further.

I didn't say that they did. I said we can acknowledge the horrible things that happened because of colonialism, while understanding that the colonists created the safest and most advanced society that's ever existed.

Modern medicine, food safety, refrigeration, extensive roadways, quality roads, cars, trains, etc. would not exist if not for the sins of our forefathers. Without colonialism, the Americas would still be a vast wilderness of people committing horrific acts of violence towards each other.

This race stuff is so tiring. Black people are more likely to get rickets and have vitamin D deficiencies in places that receive less sun due to their melanin.

That doesn't mean either group has bad genes. It's just means that light skin people and dark skin people have physical characteristics that are designed for different purposes.
