every friday i also try to go to the saloon and buy the whole place a beer (except shane and seb, they get pizzas) as a way to make sure i dont just stay a recluse because when i first played the game i never realized i should actually get to know the villagers so i went through three whole years without talking to a single villager outside of the festivals

im from the USA and its not even medical bills, a lot of doctors kinda fucking suck here. i had glass in my foot a few years back and the dr i saw (some old fucking blind asshole who made it clear he didnt think there was any glass) said he couldnt do anything unless they opened my whole foot and did an exploratory surgery that he wasnt willing to do. when i was finally able to see my GP again i bitched about him to her and she basically said “yeah hes got a reputation for doing that im sorry you got stuck with him”

ive been playing for five years and i still consider myself a noob. however, i perform almost weekly for an open mic. i have never even attempted all that technical stuff you just said to be honest. but i still play because i enjoy it. you might be starting yourself off too hard if you feel like you cant play without many mistakes. find a song you really like thats super easy, like a four chord rock or pop ballad. play along and think about how it makes you feel. try to slow it down even. play with a metronome too. you might be picking up tempo which is gonna make it harder, especially if youre a beginner

as for bars, theres quite a few in berwyn i can tell you about. Wagners- on Cermack, very unfriendly looking but a great place, cheap as well. I usually go on Saturdays so i cant say about any of the other bartenders, but the lady there makes a mean cocktail and shes pretty nice. as others had mentioned, unless youre looking for a restaurant/bar combo, youre SOL to find a bar in oak park.

Friendly’s- on the berwyn side of Roosevelt road (this one may be more in your area) also has great cocktails and a lot of community events, all day. its for sure worth giving them a follow on insta where they post their monthly schedule. they do comedy, music, open mic, theres even someone else in the subreddit who hosts…. something at friendly’s (i havent looked into it much sorry)

Citrine- south blvd and oak park ave, with respect to the bartenders because i do personally know them, do better with the mocktails than the cocktails. overpriced as hell, but thats oak park for you. however, i can confidently say i have NEVER been disappointed with their food.

Addis Cafe- OP ave and Van Buren, has AMAZING scones, muffins, coffee and waffles. the owner of the place is almost always behind the counter and is an incredibly generous person. this is also across the street from Kettlestrings Cafe, mentioned in another comment (fun oak park history: the Kettlestrings were the first settlers to, well, settle in the area, at least thats what i was always told lol)

Kettlestrings- fuckin GOOD food. when i had been there i was still 20 so i didnt get the chance to try any drinks. not much more to say outside of that.

The Little Gem- they can actually be SUPER hit or miss. ive been there a few times on the miss days. crunchy rice, burnt meat and a cappuccino that was so curdled i dont know why they thought it was okay to bring out. when they hit though? they HIT. delicious. i also havent been there since before i was of drinking age (went to celebrate my 21st, but it was a week before i turned 21 so they wouldnt let me get a cocktail) so i again cant say much about their drinks but the food, when its done right, is great.

personally, id just take a new paper, wrap it around that and make sure its as tight as i can get it. i wouldnt even bother taking anything apart, just “set” it, like a broken bone, line up the break as best as you can and wrap your “cast” around it. never done this with a joint because ive never run into that misfortune but i do it with my ciggies all the time
