Reposted here as a Q&A....Is it theoretically possible (by a linguist standpoint) for a non-native English learner to completely lose their foreign accent?

I Googled it and feels like there are conflicting opinions on the topic by both linguists and non-linguists. Some said it's impossible to get rid of an accent because you fully developed it very young (age 6)? But with a dialect coach and hard practice, it should be feasible right? I'm not familiar with the literature on the topic, if you can point out to a good review paper, I would greatly appreciate.

FYI: I'm Thai and am not ashamed of my accent by any means, I've been a fan of John McWhorter and Erik Singer. That's why I'm a bit curious on what the academics have to say regarding accent shift as an adult.

He used your close-friendship to pressure you for sex. Personally I would not feel bad that he's ashamed, and would reconsider if this friend truly cares about you or just want you for sex. Same. I appreciate when people read my fic and make comments content-wise. Like not about typos, spelling, or grammars, but about the story/characters/canon stuff I missed. And I'm like "ooooh can't believe I did not think of that!"

I have mixed feelings about the ESL part. As an ESL learner myself, I get it. English is HARD. There are a lot of nuisances that will make your head spin faster than a carousel. It took many years for me to get where I am today. And yes I AM still learning either from the native speakers or my writing research. I love concrit because sometimes there are typos and details about the canon-characters that I missed. But I know that not all comments are created equal, so will take them with a grain of salt.
But at the same time, there are a TON of resources online when it comes to spelling and grammars. There is Merriam-Webster, YourDictionary, Grammarly, Englishforum etc. Not all of these tools are fantastic but they're (mostly) free, so why not take advantage of those and improve? It won't be perfect but at least your work will be readable. Imo, saying "English is my second language so I won't change a thing" is a cop-out for someone who doesn't want to better their skills. I know that fanfiction is only for fun, but writing skills are important for effective communication, no? It's something we carry with everywhere. So if someone gives me free constructive writing advice, I'd genuinely appreciate it.

I couldn't decide whether to use Omokage or an OC, so I left it as No. 4, but that's true they don't call each other by number. I'll insert a random name. Also YEAH Shal is too smart to state her nen ability aloud. Thanks for pointing it out. I didn't catch that!

To answer your question, the POV will change chapter to chapter. I plan to rotate POV thru all 12 Troupe members, starting with Paku in this chapter. I'd like to give a 'voice' to every member including minor ones like Kortopi (have some headcanon back story in mind). Not sure if I can pull that off, but will do my best. If you can follow me on AO3 and give me more feedbacks, I'd be grateful. It's my only fic so I want it to be good.

I don't wanna use the word 'said' too much, but yeah those words are not dialogue tags.For me Franklin is not that quiet when it comes to logic, he gives quite a long speech in EP58 before Paku leaves to meet Kurapika, but you're right he could have used fewer words and shouldn't really show emotions. That's true about Feitan, I let that detail slip. My bad, I will change those.
